VG Music Game

Go To

The rules are pretty simple— I'm thinking of a song. It's from a video game. Guess what song it is. You can ask yes/no questions for hints.note  Whoever guesses the song first will take control of the game and choose their own song. To this point, we've accumulated over 1000 songs among 15 years and 50000 posts— thanks to everyone who's played so far!

Tips for future reference, if it's your turn:
- Make sure to keep track of hints you've given! Also, if an answer is kinda fuzzy, you can elaborate a little bit.
- Try not to repeat a game. Same game/series is acceptable, but there's a lot of music still untouched. Same game and song is right out. Be sure to check this list thoroughly!

Shall we begin?

Solved Rounds:

     1 - 100
     101 - 200
     201 - 300
     301 - 400
     401 - 500

Yes.

A portion of this song quotes a song from the first game in its franchise.

The franchise...
-has been represented previously in this game.
-It is not from the Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, or Star Fox series.
-Was created by a third-party developer.
-Does not appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
The original game in the franchise...
-was released on the NES before 1996.
The game in question...
-is an RPG.
-is not an adventure game.
-was not released on a handheld.

Was the first game on a Nintendo console? (NES, SNES, N64, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, etc.)

No (neither the game in question nor the first game in this series are on a handheld).

The first game was on the NES, so it is not from the Star Fox series.

According to the The Other Wiki the first Star Fox game came out in 1993 on the SNES.

Hmm...adventure game?

Curses, I was going to use Super Meat Boy for my next round! Specifically 'The Battle of Lil' Slugger'.

I'd say that there have been enough rounds that it should be ok to use a game more than once

No, none of the characters in the series appear in Brawl.

[up]We've already repeated Chrono Trigger.

Okay I think I made a small error.
This song quotes a song from the first game in its FRANCHISE.

Since the first game in the franchise is on the NES, was the game we're looking for on there also?

I'd say that there have been enough rounds that it should be ok to use a game more than once

I'd still heavily advise against it, though. There are still soundtracks and series out there that need more love, and I don't want to eschew those in favor of previously-used games. At the very least, wait a while (and by that, I mean a while) before repeating. I've tried to instill that for series as well, but some seem to ignore it.

We've already repeated Chrono Trigger.

And No More Heroes 2. I think both of them were mostly errors. (Amusing/irritating note: I was the first one to use each of those two games.)

That may severely limit the games that can be used
