Sw Sh is at 26.44 million sold and SV is at 25.69.

I think if it wasn't for all the initial bugs and issues, S/V would have topped swsh's sales by the end of this year.

And I believe swsh's sales is boosted by it being released in covid era where many many people become casual gamer at home for the first time, and happens to pick the newest Pokemon game as one of their first games. (Big franchise, casual game, good pick for starting out.) These people, naturally, are unaware and don't care about the issues that longterm fans are aware about, such as Dexit.

Without covid era, S/V would have topped the sales a long time ago, even with its own bugs and issues.

I decided to go back to BDSP (which I haven't played since 2021 started. Good thing I still got the Manaphy!) and I'm actually liking it. Though I wish I didn't update so I could use the glitches like surfing to Shaymin. (I had just beat Gardenia, now I'm on Iron Island). In fact, it makes me almost want to get SP! (since I have BD)

The Grand Underground is... grand! I kind of miss the mini-rare candies from Sw/Sh and S/V. Plus I should probably find a way to use the mods (though I don't want to break my Switch so it might be hard). Too bad the "Play As Kirby" mod is only for BD.

Also, Jirachi is awesome. I'm probably going to put together game 8's recommended Infernape team: Gyarados, Luxray, Jirachi, Garchomp, and Roserade.

Is that a good team or is game 8 being run by hacks? because I have all of them except Garchomp right now and they're working out well for me.

(I had my then-1 year old niece pick the starter for me and she had a thing for monkeys at the time. The rest were pure coincidence until I saw what game 8 suggested!)

Last note: Jirachi is awesome in the game.

[up]x4: Really unfortunate that Gen VIII was popular mainly due to circumstance. I'm like one of the only people who's tired of seeing Galarian trainer characters in fanart almost every day. Gen VIII and IX should have switched places in terms of sales numbers and popularity with fanartists, because I believe it's still in first in that regard.

So I've asked this before, but I wanted to see what you all thought about it again.

Fish Pokemon: Float or no float?

Basically, can fish Pokemon float if they aren't on land and just act as though the air is water, or do they just flop around and are basically useless if they don't have a lake or something to battle on?

I'm trying to remember if we see any trainers with Pokemon that are also fish battling in the middle of a flat plain or with no nearby water, and I can't really recall.

I know the anime has it own interpretation (they can't) and it's still used by Horizons from what I can tell, but I wonder what you guys think?

I think they just flop around outside of the PCs' hands, largely because of Gameplay and Story Segregation. Some would float but those would be noted exceptions.

I believe no float is canon, and them floating is just included for balance reasons. Same reason you can use Diglett on non-earthy surfaces. What official media is there that depicts fish Pokemon as floating? One of the mangas?

[down] I think that falls under "gameplay reasons". Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure Pokemon Raner doesn't give fish Pokemon out of the water.

Pokemon Masters have mons like Kingdra and Sharpedo casually floating that helps any, though how canon Masters is is a question for another day

Kingdra I could see floating due to its Dragon Type. Sharpedo has no excuse.

I wonder if Wishiwashi floats?

Then again, I wonder how Wishiwashi summons other Wishiwashi for School form, even if it's in the desert or something.

Yeah. It floats. It clearly gives no !@#$%'s about how its own ability works when it shouldn't so I guess it wouldn't care if floating made no sense either.

Pokemon are mysterious like that.cool

Alright. I'm gonna take floating as canon. You can't make me think otherwise, anime.

Honestly, water pokemon just floating because they don't know they can't is on brand.

Heck, none of them really suffer life-threatening consequences if they stay out of water. Even Magikarp.

I'd argue that SV just doesn't have as generally appealing character designs as SWSH does. There are several breakout characters from Paldea, but they just don't hit the pure quantity that Galar ended up having.

My personal opinion is that SM has the best story (Not USUM though.), SWSH has the best characters (Specifically Sonia and Hop but the rest of the cast is solid as well.), and from what I've seen of SV (Everything prior to the DLC) it has a decent story and characters but it's not beating its predecessors.

As much as I disparage SwSh I do think it's human character design is actually some of the best the series has had since the DS era, Leon aside. A lot of them are simple-yet-effective and manage to feel visually distinct from each other in spite of the shared uniform elements among the Gym Leaders.

SV's humans, on the other hand, are just kind of... ugly. A lot of them are overdesigned and just plain unappealing to look at, with really weird faces.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!

I really don't like most of the character designs in SWSH as most of them are in sports uniforms or just look uninspired (Marnie is the exception.) compared to other character designs in the series.

And while the SV have school uniform designs, which I hate due to watching anime and reading manga, it not on every character and a lot of them have some details to distinguish them so it's not so bad.
