I've seen plenty of Fakemons I like on their own or as an evolutionary line, but it does seem like every fangame ends up having some definite duds. Although to be fair the real/official mons aren't all great either.

Same. But that way, it's kinda balanced, I think.

badtothebaritone: I'm currently playing through Pokémon Rejuvenation and it's good. It's also inspired by Pokémon Reborn and there's a similar game called Pokémon Desolation which are both excellent.

As for others, Pokémon Insurgence has Delta Pokemon, but I think there is an option to not have them in. Pokemon Phoenix Rising is underrated if incomplete and Pokemon Sardonyx is as well.

These fangames make me think of what place is going to be the basis of the next generation. I have my own ideas of where I don't think it'll be

  • I don't think its going to be a Japanese region because that's played out (literally the first four generations were Japanese) and barring some nostalgia-themed region I don't see them revisiting it any time soon
  • I don't think its going to be based on an area in Russia because it would be seen as a bit too controversial for their liking
  • I think they'll wait for another generation for another European region. They've had two in a row and outside of Japan Europe has had the most representation, and I think they might want to do something new

[down]Pokemon likes to keep the true region of certain Pokemon mysterious. We still don't know where Corphish came from originally

Could be an India-inspired region. Copperajah strongly hints at that.

Of course, I also thought that before Paldea was revealed.

Let's see

  • Japan: technically possible (I don't think they covered the entire country yet) but very unlikely
  • Europe: Also has possible candidates (though Russia and maybe Ukraine are def out), though it has the issue of having a similar level of overexposure plus being used twice in a row.
  • The United States: The question becomes if they considered Unova, the analogy for the mainland in general of if they are gonna looking into adapting other states besides New York (and Hawaii). Orre's apocryphal status muddies the waters a bit)
  • Australia: pretty possible as it isn't Europe, is a fan favorite pick for a region basis and would offer a few unique concepts to the table.
  • Asia: I'd say that is unlikely. China is a no go because of ideological difficulties, Japan doesn't seem to like its neighbors enough for GF to avoid controversy and while there are references toward analogues to India and such, those are prolly just that, references.
    • Side note. India is actually the reason I want to see adapted the most, owing to its rich lore.
  • South America and Africa: Both have their own baggage in ways the global north doesn't quite have, and would therefore have a lot of eggshells for GF to avoid
  • Antarctica: LOL

How about a region based on Florida. That way, Florida Man can exist in Pokémon.

If they do another US region, I'd like to see one based on the American Southwest and Mexico (Gnoggin already called dibs on the PNW). Native American, Mayan, and Aztec mythology all have a ton of stuff to pull from.

I do actually think Brazil is not that unlikely as a future region. It has boundless potential for various distinct location and Pokemon designs and is also the country with the biggest Japanese diaspora population in the world.

And I dont think Brazil is much worse in terms of potential eggshells to avoid then Hawaii.

Oh yeah, that would be somewhere in Pokemon's counterpart to South America. A region that explores Mew could be really cool, we haven't had too many other regions build their lore around Legendary Pokemon of other regions (Regis aside).

As a resident of Hawaii, I’d like to say that I’m still disappointed that they didn’t make a Pokemon based off the state bird, the nene.

What about the rest of Oceania? A New Zealand region would be Normal/Flying types galore. Also, I'd love to see a Fire starter based on the tuatara just so I can watch people desperately try to shoehorn it into the zodiac theory.

[up]This.

It amazes me how people are always checking the real life fauna to guess what Pokémons may appear, and then Gamefreak does things like putting zebras in New York, lions in France, koalas in Hawaii, penguins in the UK or ostriches in Spain.

Is it just me, or are the sandwich powers not working? I made three total ham sandwiches (the second when I suspected the first one hadn't worked, and the third after saving and resetting the game) and my encounter rate for normal types didn't seem to increase at all. I just want an Eevee why does the game hate meeee ;-; Might just resort to getting Pokémon Home and bringing one over from PLA...

The sandwich powers work, and Eevee is not that uncommon (it even has a static encounter in the early game). Where are you looking for it?
