I got bottom-paged so I'll make the point I forgot to bring up here.
The anime has always been half-assed as an actual adaptation of the games. It only tried like twice and mostly uses game iconography as a loose vehicle to advertise the individual Pokémon. Presumably because merch.

Yeah. In terms of adapting the games, they've always put very little effort into the Evil Team plots, with the last time they tried being back in Kalos.
Alola had zero interest in it at all (not ever really adapting the Aether Foundation stuff at all) and now the series is barely actually touching Galar period.
It's almost as though they just don't actually care about the latest region.
One Strip! One Strip! They adapted it in like, 2 or 3 episodes.
They used to do this for entire arcs. They got it out of the way as quickly as possible so they could go back to team rocket antics and the usual shit.
I've been paying attention.
Put your damn tongue back in your mouth. You look silly.
One Strip! One Strip! To be fair "two or three episodes on the villain team plot" is exactly as much attention the games themselves gave it :P
Legends Arceus came out literally 3 months after BDSP. 3 entire months between two mainline games

Yeah, but BDSP was a side project Game Freak thrust on somebody else once they lost interest in just doing a remake, Legends is what they actually wanted to make and spent their effort on. They were pretty clear upfront, too, about BDSP being something to just release before Legends was finished.

Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks Marathon![]()
Iirc, it was said never. There is no source for this claim. It reminds me of when Sw Sh was coming out. All gamefreak said was that they have two teams, one working on pokemon and the other on little town hero and people moving between the two teams. And some people took that to mean fewer resources and manpower were being put into the game than usual.
I found a website for AI generating fakemon. Might be fun to play around with.
I got this thing, apparently a Rock/Flying Type. Looks like some sort of elk or moose with wings instead of horns.
Neat.

Even if BDSP was meant to be the side platter to PLA's main course (even tho BDSP got the coveted and lucrative holiday window release and PLA got the doldrums of January), the point of the matter is that they did, indeed, "cannibalize" their own franchise's sales by releasing a new mainline game just short of 3 months from each other
Hell. If, hypothetically speaking, we do get a G9 announcement and it's slated to come out around holiday time this year. That would 'still'' be a wider gap between the release of PLA and ~Gen 9~ than the gap between BDSP and PLA

There's a few differences though.
1) BDSP and Arceus were announced at the same time, so everyone knew they'd be releasing close to each other from the outset.
That's not really the same as dropping a new game and then a month later announcing a new one is coming literally a month later.
2) There was a three month gap between BDSP and Arceus. That's generally enough wiggle room for people to get their fix in the former before moving onto the latter.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Wait. So a 3 month gap is good enough wiggle room by a 10 month gap is "cannibalizing the other game's numbers"?

I'm having to learn to pay the priceI think it's unlikely they'll announce Gen 9 games, but not particularly because I think it'll cannibalize Legends' sales or because of any patterns, but just because I doubt Gamefreak will be able to finish Gen 9 games in less in the year from them finishing Legends unless it ends up super rushed. BDSP was mostly able to come out so close to PLA because it was made by a totally separate team.
x2
Do you not know how silly it sounds to be like "it makes no sense to announce a new game a month after the newest game comes out" while pointing out that they announced two games in the same breath? Because that's pretty silly.
Not to mention Generation 9, assuming it sticks to the classic formula, has a completely different audience than PLA. PLA is a semi-open world game where you're meant to catch multiples of every species whereas Generation 9 wouldn't be anything like that. While there's obviously going to be some crossover (These games are being targeted at Pokemon fans and potential newcomers after all.) announcing Generation 9 isn't going to take away sales from PLA because they're targeted at people who want different things.

I think it may have been mentioned by Masuda or one of the upper brass that Legends Arceus was a game mostly cut by the newbloods, which makes sense.
At the end of the day though, it's really hard to claim that any Pokemon game would "cannibalize/take away from" the others considering SWSH, BDSP and PLA had very similar launch week numbers (6mil, 6mil and 6.5mil respectively. Good on PLA for being the unexpected forerunner there) regardless of how long or short the time period was between entries.

.
Slushix
A Regional Variant alternate evolution of Onix. Height: 29'6"/9m, Weight: 551.2lbs/250kg.
Living at the top of snowy mountains has given it a diet of ice and dirt and built up a thick layer of snow on Onix's body, transforming it into this Pokemon. It claims a mountain or two as its territory and tunnels through them, carving out caves. It's very friendly to human travelers and smaller wild Pokemon, letting them use its tunnels as shelter from the elements. However, it's very territorial and aggressive toward larger Pokemon that threaten its domain over its territory, such as Aggron or other Slushix (or human vehicles).
Type: Ground/Ice
Abilities: Ice Body, Sturdy, Snow Force (boosts the power of all moves by 30% in Hail)
Stats: 85/75/180/55/75/40 total: 510
