I personally highly doubt we're getting gen 9 this year. Maybe next year at the earliest.
It should be noted that Home, BDSP, and PLA are not on the list of games and Sw Sh's list this week was Raid battles with Gigantamax Kanto starters.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Now that I think I've finally finalized how I'd rebalance the types, it's time to move on to moves! Not rebalancing, but just some thoughts on moves I would add:
A slate of Freeze-Dry
type moves that do extra power to certain types
- Blowout: A special Flying Type move that does double damage to Fire types
- []kinesis: a class of 50 base power special Psychic moves that does double damage to a corresponding type:
- Ferro: Steel
- Pyro: Fire
- Hydro: Water and Ice
- Geo: Ground and Rock
x3
BDSP and PLA were announced in a Pokemon Presents presentation last year and while they're not new generations they're still mainline games. Generation 9 could easily be announced this Sunday and release in November. By that point Legends Arceus will have been out for nearly a year so sells for Generation 9 wouldn't bite into sells for PLA. Hell, the positive reception to PLA could even help sale Generation 9 to people.
Do I expect Generation 9 this year? Honestly, I think its 50-50. Either way, it's not entirely out of the question.

There's a lot of things I'd kinda love to see in the future, but some of it may end up a bit broken, haha.
One of those things would be a Poison-type move that's effective against Bug-types.
Another would be a Steel-type move effective against Poison-types. (Or maybe even an Ability that causes it.)
Was gonna say its too early for gen 9 until I realized that its been three years since Sw Sh...
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. You might think I'm kidding about Mother 3, but remember when Nintendo said they'd announce a new RPG IP at E3 2016? The reveal trailer for Ever Oasis was flooded with commenters complaining that it wasn't Mother 3.
It would be odd, but definitely not something I couldn't see them doing, to announce the new gen when BDSP still clearly is awaiting updates. The GWS if nothing else.
My musician pageYea the climate for this Generation is very different from the last one.
There was a game every year in Gen 7, but this is the first Gen where we get actual DLC.
Plus as mentioned, Arceus is barely a month old, they're not going to cannibalize their own game by announcing a new one coming already.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Hopefully they delay Gen 9 so they can add their good Arceus ideas in it. And polish the graphics.
It's going to be so boring if it's just back to the Grass - CTB - Fight - CTB - Grass cycle again. They managed to finally make a game where it's interesting to complete the Pokedex, I really hope they don't ditch it because it would be harder to make Ash & co have an animated adventure about it.

Could be anything related to Pokémon, really.
"Can you even read the blackboard written clear as can be?" / "Can you even read his mind? See that kid's lost fantasy?"Perhaps a new generation, or a new remakes, or new Gen 8 games, or new DLC or updates to the current Gen 8 games and HOME, or just all sorts of various stuff.
Either way, this may turn out to be quite interesting.
