Their is no surefire way to set Freeze which is the issue. It basically leaves it as a roll of the dice. Which is the mast thing for competitive.

Freeze is frustrating on both the giving (no way of consistently inflicting it, random duration) and receiving (utterly debilitating, random duration) ends, so I'd be fine with them replacing it. I don't necessarily think a special clone of Burn was really needed (I generally hold the view that "different things should do different things", so I would prefer if physical and special attacks had different inherent pros and cons, rather than having largely interchangeable strategies), but I'm willing to roll with it.

Frostbite should cut Special Defense. That way you can run over a Chansey much more easily.

Isn’t that what Close Combat is for?

Eh, Chansey is down in UU, Blissey is standard, and Close Combat is a TR.

So, I’m thinking of doing another playthrough of Heart Gold sooner or later, and I could use some help deciding on a team. I’ll be using Typhlosion, Ampharos and Mamoswine as old standbys, and I plan on using Slowking as well. The last two slots, however, I’m having trouble deciding on. Which of these three should I use - Togekiss (I’d trade over a Shiny Stone from Platinum if so), Scizor, or Bellossom?

Scizor and Togekiss are the better mons but I doubt HGSS is hard enough that picking Bellossom would be a serious hindrance.

Except Johto really hates Grass-types. Especially a mono-Grass Pokémon like Bellossom.

Bellossom is to Meganium what Vileplume is to Venusaur. Has a slight difference in that it has always hit slighty harder than its starter counterpart (rather than it being a development in XY, like Vileplume's slighty superior firepower), but, that's it.

Hm…alright then, guess I’ll go with Scizor and Togekiss.

Thanks!

Double post for numbers!

  • Sw Sh has sold 23.9 million units, knocking GS off the second best selling games in the series
  • BDSP has sold 13.97 million.
  • New Pokemon Snap sold 2.36 internationally.
One more set of numbers: PLA has the second biggest Switch launch ever in Japan selling 1.425 million.

That’s 1.425 million units in 3 days. Three. Days.

If PLA has the comparable legs to SwSh we’re looking at more than 20 million sold. Safe to say the Legends formula will be sticking around.

Here's hoping they can beef it up in the future. What we have is fun, but it needs to be the foundation they build on rather than the new standard.

BDSP has outsold HGSS and FRLG in 2 months, and is at spitting distance of Let's Go and ORAS. Best selling remakes ever.

And the current gen will likely beat gen I as the best selling gen, at this rate. Then again, Sinnoh is Japan's favourite region (and the second is Galar), soo...

[up]How much of Galar being 2nd is "new toy syndrome", though?

Most of the fanbase doesn't really care much about games older than they are tho. The internet is ALWAYS fixated on saying that the gen 10 years ago was peak Pokemon, on the other hand.

Honestly, I could care less for what they did with Unova. Goddamn power creep, blank state dex, and bloat, and all of that to leave the story unfinished after getting direct sequels.

[up][up] You don’t sell 23.9 million units because of “new toy syndrome”.
