PMD seems like it's underselling. I didn't even know it had already released until a month after it came out.

That's not a good sign for anyone that wanted a sequel...

It had to compete with the infamously stacked march line up, animal crossing included. I'd like to think its unfortunate release was the culprit rather than a lack of demand.

Is there even that much demand though?

It’s a Pokémon spinoff (which already rarely do amazing), in a pretty niche genre. Personally, I’m surprised every time they announce a new one because it always seems like the series is dead after whatever the last game was at the time.

Its actually doing better then the older PMD games did in the same time frame. I'm not worried.

Yeah, it'll easily do better than any of the 3DS Mystery Dungeons.

I'm personally just going to be waiting until they make an Explorers DX, since that's the Mystery Dungeon I have the most attachment to.

[up][up]Explorers is so goood. I'm kinda worried a remake would screw it up, like what happened to The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Rescue Team DX is honestly a perfect remake of the original. The story and dialogue are kept identical, but the game has just enough new features to feel like you're playing a new game... even though it still feels like a nostalgia trip to the old one.

With the graphical improvements and the storybook artstyle, if they do the exact same thing for Explorers it'll actually just be a perfect game.

...albeit hopefully with some balance changes. multihit moves are OP, and the map layouts in DX were a bit more bland with their random generation than in the original Rescue Team or Explorers.

[up]Good. I don't want a MM 3 D here, where it creates new problems from the original game and doesn't fix the flaws that the original had.

Honestly, if they keep the music and the extra stuff added from Sky, I'm going to be completely fine with it.

PMD sells well. The problem is that I think they remade the wrong game. Remakes of the DS games would have sold well. The series suffers from Sequel Displacement.

I too hope for an Explorers remake, but I'd like if they're a little more confident about actually remastering the music. Rescue Team DX played it too safe, to the point that they still sound like GBA chiptunes. The two boss themes in particular suffer from it.

Wouldn't mind if the script also cut back on the gratuitous flashbacks and Parrot Exposition, but I don't think they'll touch that at all.

Was it ever mentioned that Barry had a bowlcut in an earlier design? I've seen it mentioned on forums but I can't find a source.

Rookidee:

#821.5 - Rookidee are feisty and territorial Pokémon and will bravely fight against any adversary, no matter how big and powerful that opponent is. They are able to store some of their own energy after every battle, even if they lose, so they benefit and grow a bit stronger from every fight. Using their legs, they are able to jump nimbly from place to place to confuse Pokémon bigger than themselves. Rookidee’s intelligence grows with them, and unlike other bird Pokemon, they will begin to use tools in battle, throwing rocks to inflict damage or using ropes to entangle enemies. Due to the many tough battles they fought in when younger, they have learned how to accurately judge the strength of their opponents.

#822.5 - Corvisquire fight many battles, learning and growing from each fight. As they age, some of their plumage becomes coated in a steel-like substance that grants them greater protection from attacks. Their growing strength leaves Corvisquire with a fearless attitude and fierce confidence; many say that any Pokémon foolish enough to challenge a maturing Corvisquire are sent running with just a sharp glare and cry from their beak. A full grown Corvisquire - a Corviknight - possesses superb flying skills and high intelligence; because of this, many of them work for the company called Galar Taxi, helping transport people from town to town.

Probably for the best that they tested the waters with a Rescue Team remake first. There are still a couple of oddities, like how every Pokemon can use a basic attack except whoever the player is controlling.

Did the remake give evolved players expressions? I never liked to evolve my starter or partner because they became so generic, especially if you took them off your team. They didn't have individualized sprites or lines anymore.

They have a few, though not as many as the unevolved ones. They all have happy and sad faces in addition to the neutral one, at least, and a few seem to have more if they had expanded portraits in the 3DS titles.

I thought Super had complete expressions for starters of all forms (since evolution is a plot point there). Then again I enjoyed Super over DX.

Also dunno why people still insist the trio of friends are rivals. It's always Serena/Calem. In fact they made a big deal about not being the chosen one.

Dr. Lava has some cut content and translated interviews from pokemon games. His content is genuinely interesting, but his site is somewhat hard to navigate...
