Rock/Fighting. Guess I'm Terrakion.
Normal/Ghost. I am nothing.
Fairy Bug...ribombee huh? Acceptable.
I'm Fairy/Bug as well.
I think I did one of these before and I was also Fairy/Bug, that type combo rings a bell, and I'm sure it isn't the Cutiefly line.
Yes, it is. Its the only Fairy Bug type line, I believe, unless their's one I'm forgetting.
I think Uranium had an early-game fairy/bug? Could be getting confused with that
Yet another "Which Pokemon/Type are you" that depends on the Gregorian Month & Date.
Seriously, has anyone ever thought of using the Western or, more appropriately, Eastern Zodiac? Or perhaps both?
Heck, the Eastern Zodiac has designations for not just the years, but the months as well, which are 45 degrees out of phase of the Western Zodiac. This means that each Inner Chinese Animal (as opposed to the Annual-based "Outer Animal") is at the midpoint between Western Constellations, so you could really have 24 periods based on which "sign" a date was closest to.
The Eastern Zodiac also has signs for days of the week, but these are grouped together more unevenly than the planets in the Western Zodiac.note Still, all that would matter would be the actual day, the signs would be there to help determine what each day meant. There are also signs for Hour-Pairsnote which, as one can tell from the pothole, is probably too precise for some; I consider myself fortunate to have my birth time to the nearest 5 minutes. A Combined system would have a sign for each hour starting on the half-hour.
Then you have the Elements and Attributes, annual base 10 for the Easternnote I wouldn't use the 60 year cycle adding annual animals; that's just too much... along with a Seasonal sub-element that doesn't use Earth, note alternately, uses Earth for the 3rd month of each season, monthlynote and tied to sign for Western.
Because of how I would have the signs showing at their "dominant" times, these would be about 1 week out of phase on both sides... which actually creates 48 periods of 6-9 days!note As a compromise between systems that have Earth having 4 months and Earth having none, Earth would get the last 2 quasi-weeks of each Eastern Season. This gives Earth 8 quasi-weeks and the other elements 10 each.
EDIT: In Summary: Factor 1 would be based on which quasi-week (48), Factor 2 would be a combination of Day of the Week and last digit of Year (70)... Maybe...
And no, I'm not doing this merely because I ended up with a type matchup that doesn't currently have a evolutionary line. (Though I wouldn't be surprised to see Fairy/Ground get a line next time around.)

Pokemon Day celebration events at Nintendo NY in New York City from February 27th through March 3rd; includes meet ups with Pikachu/Eevee, "Trade and Play," Face Paintings, and for some reason a Q&A with Nintendo Treehouse employees.
So you figure gen 8 will be revealed at the first Q&A, or before festivities start?
I honestly doubt it.
I'd like to see what those Q&As with Treehouse are all about. Maybe I'll go into Nintendo NYC and see that.
I could call out of work that day, but then I'd need a Doctor's note.
Well if it its going to be revealed, tomorrow is the ripest time; we got a direct inbound.
I know pokemon usually has its own directs for gen announcements, but they also usually announce new gens in the winter months. Now would be a perfect time to ride the wave of hype and pokemon reveals till release in fall.
It's unlikely, but the game was also announced back in last year's E3, so maybe Pokemon is willing to experiment a little. It would definitely be the biggest announcement of the Direct, but I don't know if that's what Nintendo wants, since the official Direct announcement specifically mentioned Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Seems like that's going to be the primary focus of the Direct.
They’re not going to say that they’re making the first reveal for something before the Direct actually happens though.
I think Gen 8 will be revealed in the middle of tomorrow's Direct, probably just the boxart legendaries and the starters.
I mean the 27th is two week from now. Maybe we get a general Direct tomorrow and a Pokemon Direct next week or the 27th? The latter makes more sense as the 27th is when the Q&As start so it makes sense to announce the new games then. Unless, of course, the Q&As are about the games in general.

It is the fifth anniversary of Twitch Plays Pokemon.
Here's something that would probably be banned from tournament use: an ability that lets a Pokemon use two moves during its turn a la the Beast Eye passive skill from Devil Survivor.
Using the same move twice has already been done with Mega Kangaskhan's ability, although that one's still somewhat balanced since the second hit is less powerful, and using it takes up the Mega slot. Using two different moves in one turn, though, runs into the technical complication of selecting both moves for the turn. Perhaps the game might select the second move for you (either randomly, or using the AI to determine the "best" move)?
Even an ability like that could be made less overpowered by adding some requirement to it (like being at or below a certain percentage of HP, or maybe not getting hit before using the second move), or making it a one-off ability, or something like that. I still wouldn't necessarily call that balanced, though.
True. Of course, then here would be an ability definitely banned from tournament use: Dragon Eye. This ability would let its user use four different moves in one turn, but only the first move can be chosen manually (other moves are selected at random) and it would be exclusive to legendary Pokemon.

That'd be OP even by Legendary standards.
Indeed it would.
Onto something different, I wonder what a hypothetical sequel to Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness will be called now? If it uses Gen VI Pokemon and has Yveltal as a Shadow Pokemon, it could possibly be called Pokemon XD2: Wings of Annihilation.

Given that XD is already the sequel to a game called Pokémon Colisseum, a hypothetical sequel would probably have a different name entirely.
to this day i hate gale of darkness' name because it looks like a 2008 emoji
