Nah, its just our contractors have realized they can write whatever they want on the price tag, do wahtever they want, and get away with it.
Okay, then try this.
Our SMG has no stock, folding or otherwise.
Not because the military was too dumb to want one, but rather because the factory refused to produce one because it would require making another stamp.
290,000 yen a unit on that SMG.

Yeah, the Type 14 Nambu was the one Bill Ruger copied, turned into a .22 target pistol, and sold umpteen million units and still counting. (Which allowed his company to operate perpetually "in the black." Unlike most gunmakers, Ruger has never filed for bankruptcy, because they always re-invest their earnings.)
-Goes to look at F-2- O_O Holy shit. 127 million US per unit. Though that cost seems to come from the composites used to reduce weight and radar return and a few fancier bells and whistles like more expensive radar. Even the Pigeon C is still cheaper.

Who watches the watchmen?US AF wants a microwave cruise missile that pulse multiple targets along a flight path
It might not be enough to burn anything protected or hardened but everything else might get cooked.

Now I've got to give Arrse credit. Type in "F-35" in their search and it redirects you to the infantry forums.
Resounding show of faith eh?
