Aawww, not good.
Actually, I was just planning to go to RIAT because my holidays didn't match with my favourite UK airshow — Duxford Flying Legends. I was there the last two years, but this year it's a week off. So I decided I might go to RIAT, and after learning it was in fact the largest military airshow in the world, nothing stops me. I actually dug up my grandfather's old video camera hoping to catch some footage.
I can only wish you best of luck for getting there, maybe there will be a miracle...
Mach 6 Cruise Missile Successful Splash
Ok I know its not an aircraft but the testing procedure was cool. They had to haul it aloft on a BUFF to be launched.

Who watches the watchmen? The thing here though is that they are not only doing the research into scramjets for application in cruise missiles (though that probably still is the main driving force), but also other possible uses, like future space vehicles.
Of the more recent X-planes, this is probably the most interesting.
A different shape every step I take A different mind every step of the lineYah. DARPA and DOD have Mach 6+ vehicle projects in the works. Like the high speed vehicle that was supposedly lost on its launch. They are meant to be fired and reach their target rapidly. According to rumors they supposedly include spy applications.
There was even talk of a firing rocket pods with U.S. Marines in them into enemy territory and would reach their target destination in about 30 minutes to an hour.
I will dig for my earlier links on the Hypersonic vehicles they have been playing with.
Who watches the watchmen?just popping in to say: I love A-10s and AC-130s. They are awesome. MORE DAKKA!
ok, I'm done.
XP granted for befriending a giant magical spider!Well, the idea certainly has potential, but as far as I see, they don't have more than a few computer-generated images and high-flying ideas at the moment.
A different shape every step I take A different mind every step of the lineCertainly seems like a good idea: basically "We can whack your country in an hour; now, let's sit down and settle this in a civilised way."
It brings up the prospect of hyper-sonic passenger aircraft, although I am kind of sceptical: for one thing, it'd be rather tight for space.
Locking you up on radar since '09Pretty much Anywhere->Australia would benefit, I guess.
And if they "lost" one, that can mean a few things, either it was really just "lost", it crashed for some really embarrassing reason and no one wants to admit, or the test went exactly like it was planned, but they try to keep up the impression that the project is still its infancy.
Bit of
here...

I'm guessing it was probably one of the faults you mentioned, or any combination. Carburetor heat reducing the engine power already, then a small hiccup in the fuel system, and the engine doesn't pull as much as it should. Stuff like that happens all the time, but as long as there's no serious danger, there's no point worrying.
On a rather different note, I will be going to RIAT
this year. I'm so excited!
