>implying Katze isn't the drunk, genderswapped Barry to Kai's Calypso
Although that comes with its own interesting set of implications...
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serial...I feel silly for asking, but what is he insinuating, that she reads smut or something? XD

Men! Ladies! Ladies who dress like men! Men who dress like ladies! ....Katze. Welcome to the very first "World of the Crimson Lotus" worldbuilding segment.
The Affinities and Specialties explained, a short article written by Doctor Lilia Juno Schneizer, Chief Scientist of His Glorious Majesty, Emperor Hyperion Aurelius Artina III
All Spellweavers, be they our own or those of the enemy are nothing without these two subjects. This short article is to be handed to all Imperial soldiers, as to gift them with knowledge and perhaps drive to be able to use magic as well.
Let us begin with the World's blood: Prana.
Prana: The lifeblood of reality
Prana is an invisible, mystic force of energy. Everything living produces Prana, indeed, the world itself produces Prana.
Prana is pure magic, pure spirit. It is Prana that sparks the breath of life, it is Prana that gifted man with a soul. And it is Prana that fuels miracles. We have confirmed the existence of Beings made completely of Prana, with no physical body.
We call them gods.
Affinity: Link to the divine
When mankind was created, some of his Prana coalesced into an invisible organ, an organ of the soul. The Affinity.
Affinities are aligned to the four basic types of Prana. What a Spellweaver learns to do is to connect his Affinity to the world's own source of Prana, and draw that power to create various effects using Prana as a fuel and means to reshape reality.
Because the spells use up part of a Spellweaver's soul, overuse of magic may result in fatigue, illness and even death. One must always try to keep their Prana over 60 percent. The Spellweavers of the Alliance have created a magical device that gauges a person's Prana level. We will obtain this eventually.
As the Affinity connects the person with the lifestream of the divine itself, there is a risk of allowing the connection to become too deep, and thus be consumed by the World's Prana.
Now, a person with one of the Four Lesser Affinities have not much to worry about in terms of their Affinity swallowing their souls. While it is true that the most powerful Spellweavers run the risk of turning into a blazing fireball, or turning into stone, most Elemental Spellweavers run zero risk of being consumed...simply because the connection itself cannot become strong enough, as the world itself rejects a human from connecting deeply with it.
But there are those who are born with anomalous Affinities, those who are intimately connected with great divine forces.
The Three Greater Affinities: Light, Shadow, and Eternity.
As they are intimately connected to the divine, they have great risk of being consumed by their affinity. It needs an iron will and great discipline to assert their individual human identities every time they use anything even slightly greater than the weakest spells.
Those of the Light Affinity who Fall and become consumed will burn away their physical form and become pure Spirit, wraiths who cannot affect the world but ever doomed to wander it.
Those of the Shadow Affinity who Fall, lose their entire sense of Self, and become soulless husks.
We have never documented anyone of the Eternity Affinity falling, as there are literally only two people in recorded history with this Affinity.
His Glorious Majesty is the first. And the Enemy's Alliance Primus is the second.
Specialties: Blueprints of Magic
Unlike Affinities, Specialties are manmade. think of them as "plans", "blueprints" or "instructions" on how to safely harness the power of magic.
These specialties were recorded eons ago by the fist Spellweavers as a safeguard against Falling. As long as one casts a Spell within the framework of a Specialty, the chance of Falling is lowered considerably, even to those of Greater Affinities.
These ancient texts have been passed down to every Spellweaver in history. To learn a Specialty, one must first learn the intricate rules of these texts. Most Spellweavers take five years to learn the framework, and another five to learn the rules, and yet another year to master a specialty.
Using Spells without a Specialty, that is, harnessing Prana in its raw form to create miracles is very possible, but, like I said, most cannot control pure Prana and Fall.
That is all for today's article. The next will be distributed in a week.

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist an Anal Probing joke
Question: Is everyone riding something or walking, or is it dependent on the person?
Also, everyone should know what happened
in the cave, unless they were somehow sleepwalking on the way to Wurd.

Allurand and surrounding world loading, 28%...When Kai brought his sister back, the team was stopped and unpacking for all of about maybe ten minutes or so. Now we're all packed up again and hauling ass towards Wurd, where Kai is hoping to find some answers as to what happened to his sister.
And apparently unless otherwise noted, everyone is walking
or riding in one of the wagons, unless a character has some sort of steed.

Allurand and surrounding world loading, 28%...Considering mine was batmanning in a Barry The Chopper disguise and joined partially for the money I'm pretty sure she doesn't.
As for where everyone is in relation to one another I'll just excuse it as RP geography.
Shit's messed up yo.
