-Meiling smashes a bunch of faeries away-
Meiling: Hey, human! As long as you can fight, we'd better go back inside! Sakuya's going to kill me if she finds out I've been slacking while this is going on.

you'll then have a grave in the clouds where you won't lie too cramped(As the strange hatless tengu darts into the room, he follows in hot pursuit, slamming the door shut behind him. The large dining hall is windowless, and is instead lit by a couple of chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.)
"No more running, whoever you are. I am tired of running."
(He makes a strange gesture towards the floor. A second later, a thick wall of stone begins to rise, blocking off the only way in or out of the room. A million thoughts run through his head, half of them miscellaneous spell fragments, the other half being "how many lives do I have left?")
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...(Sakuya opened the door to the dining room, only to find a stone wall blocking the way.)
Sakuya: Hey, let me in!

(Many of the faeries begin to converge on Meiling and Att)
Meiling: Heads up!

Ugh...my aching head...wait, what happened?
(He tried to get up, only to find that his hands and feet were bound behind his back. A brief look around revealed bookshelves and piles of books. A scowl emerged on his face.)
Koakuma.
(He tried to reach for a knife, only to find that his rope bandolier was missing.)
Dangit!
you'll then have a grave in the clouds where you won't lie too cramped-Meanwhile, in a now bloodied part of the Forest of Magic-
Aya?Makuta: Man, I knew it would be easy in this part of the forest, but not this easy.
"...dammit"
(Dispelling the stone wall to let Sakuya through was a trivial task, but with the tengu now charging towards him at blinding speed, there was too much risk of her getting away again. That, and needing to protect himself.)
(He soon found himself facing curtain fire on one side, and Aya closing the distance from the other. Weaving though danmaku was one thing, but melee combat was not one of his strong points. He fired shots of his own in a wide arc in an attempt to keep the tengu at bay, hopefully whittling down her health in the process.)
"I need to out-maneuver her. But how... ah, of course!"
(He remembered a spellcard he used once before. All he had to do was reweave the spell pattern.)
This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...(After realizing that his knives were gone, he tried to set the binds on fire. Unfortunately, he only managed to make some holes in the carpet. He lay there on the floor for a while, eyes closed, just mulling over how Koakuma had beaten him. Eventually, he opened his eyes.)
Just sitting here isn't going to do me any good. I'm still alive. The mansion is still standing. I shall go on.
Also, if Patchouli's still alive, she's somewhere in here, and I'm still going to learn metal magic.
(I slowly start wriggling forward)

Meiling: No, hold your ground! If we can just make it past this wave—
(Koakuma appears behind the faeries, a rope bandolier on her shoulder)
you'll then have a grave in the clouds where you won't lie too cramped(Koakuma ducks behind a sidetable as the faeries are dispersed)
Koakuma: Hmm...well, looky here, anoter human. Looks like the other one. Maybe he's as gullible.
(Koakuma puts on a scared face and peeks out from behind the sidetable)
Koakuma: H-hello? Is there anyone there?
you'll then have a grave in the clouds where you won't lie too cramped...Charge capacitor linked to a resonator loop, reversed flux regulator at Whoa, that was close! at the new transformer junction, now wait a few seconds to collect...
(Grazing was an art that was second nature for a master of dodging. However, not being such a person, it was more of a near-fatal accident when it happened.)
...aaand, we're done! Trickle of borrowed strength: Tempestuous Mountain Wind!
(The modified spell copied some of Aya's inherent abilities, lending him a boost of speed and a bit of control over the wind. While still not quite on equal footing with the tengu, now they were at least a little more evenly matched.)
Sakuya! Are you still there?

-there is a shift in the air, as if a tiny piece of reality itself was displaced; the bamboo thicket is wrenched away by a large, callused hand; a man steps forth from the gap, towering over the youkai by several feet; he is wearing a grey, slightly worn suit jacket, a similarly worn button-down shirt underneath, the left cuff bearing singes (the left, pistol, hand is also gloved), matching slacks being worn as well; his face is clean shaven, high-cheekboned, and possessing of a prominent, autocratic nose; around the left jawline are burn scars running up to his ear; sharp grey eyes look about this forest below closely cropped light brown hair, before settling on Tewi-

"He could not know it. For it was not all a joke."Sakuya: Well, frankly, it's not important if I help to defeat the tengu, but that the tengu is—
(A horde of faeries come around the corner)
Sakuya: ...I'll get back to you.

Tewi: Yeah, sure! I can get some help, just wait a moment!
(Without waiting for his answer, Tewi retreated back to Eientei)
you'll then have a grave in the clouds where you won't lie too crampedStuck with a one-on-one. Oh well, I've managed to not die so far...
(And so, the dance began, tengu pressing the attack, human staying on the defensive. The strategy at this point was simple: his aim was to conserve his strength while letting the tengu tire herself out.)
Tengu, you disappoint me. Surely you can do better?
(Dodging danmaku from afar was trivial. When his opponent drew close, he countered with his own spread of shots before darting away.)
Stop trying to hit me and hit me!
(The fight continued with more taunts and more focused dodging. A look at the tengu revealed signs of exhaustion. He himself was starting to feel the fatigue in his legs. Not that he was about to let it slow him down.)

Tewi: What's up with his face? And his eyes? He can't be Japanese. And that thing in his hand...
-Tewi almost takes a step forward, but changes her mind and steps back-
