Ha ha ha...reminds me of playing flag football in my old unit. I'd start with bodychecks, and by the end of the game I'd have straight up choked a couple guys. Only a few of the other officers were anything like competent fighters, so I would pretty much always come out on top.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler. They should at least let people use nerf guns, like the Humans Vs Zombies that Joe mentioned.
Eh, just a looooooooong flag football run without a football and some obstacles. Watched some youtubes of some first-person runs - looks very fun, and very physically demanding. The guy running it was pretty much winded at the eight minute mark, with another 25 minutes of footage to go. They formed small groups (safety in numbers) and did hasty plans to deal with upcoming obstacles or groups of shufflers. Then they would sprint through it real quick, hoping to overwhelm the shufflers, so everyone managed to get through with their flags still on them.
Cameraman seemed pretty competent in jooking and dodging out of the way at a dead run to avoid being tagged.
Said that the after-party was a total blast, too.
Add some painball to it, so you have the option of downing zombies in your way (neutralizing them for some time or whatever) and it would be even better - have weapon caches dotting the course, so you have to find the guns, find pellets, and survive the course. Little safe zones where there's "guards" or something, and the whole goal is to get to the end of the course. But since they let spectators watch from the sidelines, they probably had liability concerns with arming runners with paintball guns and stuff. Can't see lasertag setups surviving the run, either.

Happiness is zero-gee with a sinus cold. That could work. Have red LE Ds light up when they were disabled so everyone knows they should be "stunned"
I'm baaaaaaackPoor, pitiful Belial. Thinking that we only produce our guns, tanks, artillery, and jets in "one or two" locations.
I really hope somebody uses the page quote for Humans Are Warriors somewhere in The Salvation War. It is utterly, oh so entirely fitting.

HULC 200lb load carry exo skeleton looking at future combat testing soon

Who watches the watchmen?![]()
DAMN that's soon. I figured we were at least a few years off from even starting stuff like that.
It's not Iron Man, but it's a first step.
I'm baaaaaaackBarkey and Martello are pretty normal military guys. Nothing wrong there.
The downside is the HULC only has battery life for 8 hours of "On the March" time. First it has to finish stateside test runs. The goal is 72 hours in the future. Supposedly it helps absorb recoil with weapons fired from the weapon fixture point that is mounted on the suit.
Who watches the watchmen?Remember the earlier discussion regarding women in combat?
It seems to me that no matter what one's view on the subject, doing things via lawsuit is the wrong way. At the very least, do you (generic "you") really want the courts to be making policy decisions for the military, given how little of the judicial system has any combat experience?
All your safe space are belong to TrumpI like to think so.
So on the women in combat thing... I have one berserk button when the issue is brought up.
Why the fuck is the first thing they say "WOMEN CAN'T BE SPECIAL FORCES WHAT A TRAVESTY!"
Slow the fuck down honey tits, you want to be spec ops? Show that women can handle 11B regular line Infantry and 19D cav scout shit before you go off and whine that you can't be in special forces.
Why do they always jump straight to special operations and recon whenever the argument of women in combat arms comes up? What? You're too good for Infantry, but it's a travesty that you can't be a green beret? Nut the fuck up and start screaming bloody murder that you want to be 11B.
If they do lower standards for them, I expect there to be a lot more causalties than there should, along with decreased efficiency. If there's normal standards there gonna have to work for it and the only ones that get in would be REALLY dedicated.

I'm baaaaaaackYeah, the same standards is going to mean a lot of women falling out compared to the male percentage. It's an unfortunate truth.
I blame mental conditioning in our society more than I blame genetics or the base physique of men versus women.
Anyway, on the deployment tempo comments, I wonder if Martello wants it for the money, for the promotion potential, or both. I'm personally in it for the money, though the thought has crossed my mind that the more campaign stars I get the better my chances of eclipsing people who haven't had the chance to deploy when promotion boards come up.

Also an issue I'd have. I tend to respond to unexpected surprises in a high-stress environment by caving the offending party's face in with whatever blunt object I have in my hand.
