Last night I dreamt I was naked in the hot tub at my old apartment complex with an old friend, her ex-girlfriend... and Haruhi Suzumiya. It wasn't all that weird (or especially erotic, for that matter)... it just struck me as odd that I was bathing with two real people (both of whom have been in that hot tub with me in real life, albeit wearing swimsuits) and an anime character.

Had a horrible "Or Was It A"-Dream last night that's been bugging me all day. When I woke up I couldn't remember any visual details of the experience, just a "fact": that a friend of mine had died.

Of course, she hadn't IRL. But the friend in question is one of a group of friends from school, none of whom I've seen since we broke up for half term on the 13th (not sure why not, I just haven't been in contact with any of them). In my dream, I knew she'd been dead since near the start of the week, and everyone else in our circle of friends had known for days, but nobody had thought to tell me sooner.

When I woke up, I felt utterly drained. I felt as though I'd known my friend had been dead for ages, but I still hadn't gotten over it. I knew it was probably all a dream, but there was a nagging part of me that wasn't sure; a kind of "how would you know?" thought. I checked Facebook, and thankfully, she'd been online only last night. Whew.

I probably sound like an idiot, and you're probably laughing at how stupid I am, but I've never dreamed somebody else died before, and it really disturbed me.

A couple of days after my mother died I had a dream where I was saying good bye to her at the airport. She turns to get on the plane, and then stops and says, "Well? Are you coming?" Thanks Mom, I'll catch the next one.

I had an odd dream where I was in a prison. I was female, I think. Some kind of Magical Girl. Half Sakura... Half May or Leaf. Anyways, I got my hands on some kind of magic powder, so I activated it and threw it out the window to kill a guard, and it worked. The guard screamed a long time. Then I saw the leader of the guards being chased by somebody outside. The guards didn't move, oddly enough. They all vaguely looked like Team Aqua and Magma. Later on, I was brought to the leader. I asked him, "You gonna kill me or set me free?" then he held out a shard of metal. I took the shard and used it to unlock my chains. The lock was shaped like a Metapod. I kept the lock and metal shard and started running. But I turned back and said "So long, Metawolf!", who was that leader. Though I swear his name was something else before. So I started running again, and there were some guys chasing me. I jumped off the cliff and into the river to avoid them, and I woke up.

I used to have dreams (well, almost-nightmares) about high school. Yes, as an adult who's long past 18.

They mainly took the form of me trying to get in touch with my hopeless crush at the time (and, naturally, failing and having to go back home without seeing her), or forgetting my class schedules and missing classes entirely (thus dooming my grades). Both are things I was incredibly paranoid about when I was actually in high school, but the fact that it kept coming up in my dreams long after graduation (this was at its strongest in the mid-2000s!) was disconcerting at best.

Thankfully, my life has improved enough since, oh, 2005 (when I found out that said crush had long since moved on and gotten married) that the dreams have stopped. Self-confidence and having actual responsibilities helped, too.

There's also been a few dreams where my high school has turned into an Elaborate University High and grown to about 10 times its usual size, and I went and explored all of it. Weird.

Oh, snap! I just remembered a dream I had last week where I was still in school for some reason and my teacher was Barack Obama. The funny thing is that sometime in the dream I actually say, "You know, this is cool and everything, but doesn't he have a country to run and a financial crisis to resolve?"

The only other part I remember is that some Jerk Jock convinced Obama that I hated him. sad

Most of my dreams are freakishly similar to my normal routine, which can be really irritating. I will have dreamed that I got up, went to class and then work before heading home to study, only to have to wake up tired and do it all over again. Either that or my dreams are horribly depressing. Occasionally I have a dream where I get a call telling me that my mom has died and I just break down crying in the dream.

But every once in awhile I have dreams that are kinda cool and surreal. Like this one time I had dream where I was floating in orbit and that song "Fly me to the moon" was playing in the background. For kicks I decided to spin around to see the earth and the stars at the same time. But then I got dizzy so I stumbled around and I eventually crashed onto the moon. The moon was kinda boring, though so I just started walking. Eventually I met this scorpion and it decided to follow me. Then we were attacked by rabid Care Bears. So after I killed one by ripping its heart out, a rainbow sprung up from the corpse and me and the scorpion had to retreat.

So somehow we wound up Asgard where Thor and Loki were engaged in an Iron Chef style cooking contest. Then he army of Care Bears came with a reinforcement of penguins to storm Asgard. So me, the scorpion(now giant and shooting lasers from its eyes) Thor, Loki and a bunch of frost giants had to fight the army of care bears and penguins. It was pretty epic.

Just the other night though, I had a dream that I thought was even more awesome. I started out by sitting on this giant piece of paper with a pen. So I wrote down the word "motion". Then I circled it and wrote down as many synonyms as I could think of and kept on branching out from there. Eventually I realized that I wasn't creative enough to map out the English language in only two dimensions, so I used some sort of origami powers to fold the paper up and into three dimensional shapes and keep going from there. So I kept going like this for a while until I had the whole English language(slang included) written onto the paper that had been folded into this snowy forest.

So I went for a walk and I noticed that the words were flowing across the landscape as stories if I paused to look at them. Then noticed a lot of umlauts that kept sneaking into the words and I bumped into this girl. When I asked her where she came from she said, "Ich hade die Deutscher Wort Wald geschriebt!". I explained that I made the English Word Forest(in German) and she laughed and said my accent was silly. So then we decided to explore the Word Forest and see what else we could discover. We got to the Spanish section where we found a couch and took a nap. Then I woke up.

Hmm... examples... -A fight breaks out in the basement of my grandparent's house. Someone throws a 16-ball from the pool table at me, and three of my teeth broke. Seriously, I tasted blood. -I left Soul Calibur II running in Attract Mode one night, and dreamt that I stuffed some woman in a cardboard box (on a cheap blue carpet) and poured hot tomato and chicken noodle soup on the box. (note to self, turn off game consoles before sleep) -I'm with all of my best friends... at Denny's! -On a road trip with my parents, they take a "shortcut" that apparently involved doing a skateboard grind- in a car- on a metal pole suspended in midair by god-knows-what.

This morning I dreamed that there was a funeral in my back yard for a friend of my late step-father. Open casket and the body was very decayed. When I went to find him my step-father turned out to have the head of a moose and was eating a branch with these bright red berries on it that worried me because they looked poisonous. So I took the branch away from him despite his complaints and got him some other safer branches to eat.

Then a government agent asked me to delay the funeral and when I asked how, she said "Ask the Lattice. You know, in the floor". I had no idea what she was talking about so I looked it up in a GURPS rulebook and read there that the Lattice was a computer that covered the entire world and was "woven" into all the buildings, my house included. It would talk to me on a roll of 12 or less. Then things got confused.

I have a long backlog of weird and usually confusing dreams, but I had a little one this night that was... low-budget weird.

I was to this SF bookstore that exists in reality and which I visit now and then, but now it had relocated to an old movie theatre down in some kind of basement. Everything was being moved around... and it turned out they had a "lost and found" section with stuff people had forgotten in the store. It consisted of clothes, laundried and ironed, and they were all mine.

There was a sort of jacket with a tie, another more worn jacket, a big wooly sweater and a smaller dark hoodie. They are all clothes I have owned IRL but dont anymore. Appearently I had taken off my outer clothing and just forgot it there. So I grabbed them all and started for the exit, then realised no one would believe all the clothes were mine.

Hence, I started to sneak and move so that I wouldn't encounter any employees, trying to reach the exit.

When I did, it was raining - the rain was POURING down. So I hid in a corner because I couldn't walk away in the rain with my laundered-and-ironed clothing in this horrible rain... but suddenly it stopped, and the sun appeared.

And then, as they say, I woke up.

It was ... sort of like Yes Minister meets Ghost In The Shell. It was from the perspective a slightly bumbling government minister (odd since I live in Texas) who has to be privy to a security detail led by a women not entirely unlike The Major (more sensible wardrobe unfortunately).

An ill defined, but very dangerous terrorist group (comparable to the infamous Nizari Hashishins) has issued a death threat against a member of the committee on which he is a member (possibly Rules and Administration, certainly nothing as mighty as Appropriations), but which person in particular was an unorthodox omission.

This detail goes on for some time and one day the minister/senator/whatever goes to talk to a junior seat. The Junior Whatever has an office (actually a small building of offices) that was slightly outdated without being classic. Many walls were arbitrary flat colors, the carpet a dull orange. Due to a scheduling mix up (on our viewpoint character's, not on the Junior Whatever's), the Junior Whatever was just in a meeting with someone.

A beautiful woman sits next to the Senior Whatever. He gives her a smile, she does not react. She looks a little like Kim Novak from Vertigo. All around the pair, activities. People walking with papers, people typing, people taking calls, et cetra.

The buzzing Your Turn sound comes and the Senior Whatever stands to go to this meeting - but the beautiful woman gets up faster, walks in front of him and is allowed in to the room.

The set up to enter the Junior Minister's room is very odd. There is a very narrow hallway that backs up once a button is pressed, and a door with the aforementioned large red button. This button detects when a hand is over it and gives a signal to the room inside.

The Senior Whatever is very suspicious about this woman being given precedence over someone of his stature. He goes to a secretary, asks for a phone and calls the woman in charge of the Security Detail. He explains his situation.

Within seconds (or possibly over a leap in time, it's hard to tell with dreams) the Security Detail has the place surrounded. They are absolutely silent. The Senior Whatever is behind a barricade discussing the identity of the leader of the group that issued the threat with a few members of the detail (the woman in charge is in the background, organizing things). He comes to the conclusion that the threatening nickname he is most known by (I can't quite recall it ... something like "Digital Death") is not a clue to his true identity. He notes that no one makes a big deal of his other nickname "John-On-At-Twelve".

He, the Senior Whatever, is asked to go and open the door to the Junior Whatever's office. He walks up to the door obligingly. He places his hand over the large red button and hears a low popping sound. His face tells the whole story. He knows that the Junior Minister just died. He presses the button and walks into the foreground (away from the opening wall and door, where the security detail are entering).

Later still, the Senior Whatever is in the ex-Junior Whatever's office. The Junior Whatever's body is in bad shape and the woman was blasted into the Aether.

Oddly, it wasn't really a nightmare.

I had TV Tropes The TV Show appear in a dream. Well, at least the discussion of it in its thread. And the fact that it appeared is all that I remember. The only thing I do remember clearly is that Tangent went off on a tangent about how he bought Pokemon Platinum, claiming that there's a new, completely black Eevee-lution and that the design of Umbreon was going to be changed because it was unintuitive and hard for children to draw.

... err. Yeah.

First weird dream for a while, yay! Or...er, wtf is more like it.

Ok, so it began with me sitting in class. It was totally normal - it was one of those dreams that doesn't even seem like a dream - and I was coughing a lot. My throat was sore and itchy and I just kept on coughing. It was a dry cough, which made it even odder. Then, I started coughing up these larval scorpion/salamander crossbreed looking things. Apparently, according to the dream this was about as common as having a cold or something, so you were just supposed to cough up all the bug things. Some of them were small, because they were apparently just born...and they were still alive when I coughed them up (into a drain in a concrete basement that I have never seen in real life - why the hell not), and they sorta moved away... THEN, it switched to being about the main cast of Spongebob Squarepants - Spongebob, Patrick and Squidward - searching in some shallow, cloudy water (it looked like the bank of a lake or something) for pieces of something (all I remember was one of the pieces was apparently a surfboard). They were supposedly told to search for those things by a character who kept on changing. The only thing that was the same was his voice, which was D.L. Diamond from Superjail, and the character was only ever described as "A million dollar piece of machinery" for whatever reason. I clearly remember that bit. So, it started out as a fish, then it turned into a cybernetic octopus/starfish looking thing, and then my mind went 'screw it' and it just turned into D.L. Diamond. Then, all I remember after that was that apparently the D.L. sounding character was scamming the 3 Spongebob characters somehow by making them find these things in the water.

I have no clue.

Matrix dreams about me. =o

Weird dream update time! I don't recall a lot of the dreams of the past two nights, but what I do recall is... interesting.

1. One dream, I was... a girl? Maybe. And I had a Pikachu. And people wanted to take my Pikachu away from me! But little did they know that I apparently had the power to freeze people in time if they... stepped on yellow tape I prepared. In the end of the dream, some girls had taken the Pika away from me, and were coming towards me down the stairs, tiptoeing around the tape, but somehow I still managed to freeze them, take Pikachu and escape. Moments later, I could hear them scream behind me as they got unfrozen and saw the Pikachu and me vanish in an instant.

2. Last night, I was Link from Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess! I had to work in a big tower that had rooms that were basically small dungeons, where I had to collect rupees and... do things? It was a job, alright. And I think there was a conspiracy going on or something else similarly dangerous. Also, at one point I let my father take over control and he did really badly.
... Yeah, I was Link, but somehow I was also controlling him in a game, apparently? I dunno.

A lot of my dreams take place in videogame environments, which is weird because I don't even play a whole lot.

I have been working on remembering my dreams, but I haven't been writing them down so... I forgot them later on rather than before I wake up. I do remember this one, though:

Two people view a future where a group of monsters destroy their city with a giant machine. They hurry to disassemble it before it can be used. After they do that, they try to escape the underground lair via the subway system, but get overrun by the little gremlin-like monsters. I think one of them escaped while the other one held the monsters off, but I woke up then.

Oh, and the machine was made of... giant logs. Giant logs hooked up to a main machine by some thin metal rods that just sort of spun the logs around. That was the death machine that annihilated the city. I mean like, absolute destruction, tearing up the very earth. With logs on wires. It was totally awesome except for that part.

Ah, here's a weird one for y'all:

I actually slept well last night for the first time in a while, and I dreamt that my first girlfriend had a change of heart about me and wanted to marry me. I was...hesitant to tell her yes, though I certainly wanted to.

Last night, I had a dream that I met Tim Burton in a theater. He was wearing an orange T-shirt that said "Nunchuck Norris" on it and had a picture of, well, Chuck Norris weilding giant nunchucks on it. I told him that I liked his shirt, and he responded with a cheerful "Pants!" and went on his way.

I had a dream where I was on an island with a girl I knew when I was like six and I kept getting annoyed because apparently she kept turning down the temperature which was causing planes to crash. And then, right after I said that, a plane crashed. Some guys who looked like Marth and Roy as Dragon Ball Z characters were the only survivors, and the Marth-guy looked at me and said "everyone died...except the snakes, of course".

Then it zoomed out and it turned out this was apparently a movie I was watching in a movie theatre. So I walked out of the theatre, past a poster of the movie which had a cute bunny on it. And then I woke up...

This made way more sense than some of the other dreams I've had.

I've had some strange ones, but I'd better mention this one before I forget it.

I once dreamed that I had learned that I needed to repeat third grade in order to complete my education (even though I'm a college graduate in real life), since I had somehow not completed it correctly. (No reason was given, though this has some basis in real life: I left third grade early due to behavior problems I had in school, and was transferred to another school for fourth and fifth. It's possible that this was in the back of my mind)

Anyway, so here I am, a 27 year old man, in third grade. And feeling very out of place, and intimidated by the other kids, since I clearly don't belong. I don't remember much else, but trying to fit in (!!!) was a big part of it, and realizing that, as the "weird kid", I stick out easily so I'd better not draw attention to myself. Seriously, I'm not kidding. In real life, a man who's 3 times the age of his classmates would stick out enough as it is, but in the dream, I was somehow able to "fit in" as little more than the equivalent of an oddball kid, and the kids were looking at me weird and I was afraid to antagonize them, as if somehow they had some peer power over me.

Naturally I can't help but think "what the hell was THAT???" later after I woke up.

This one isn't so confusing as it is totally out of left field: a couple of nights ago I had a dream where I was driving around my hometown (in the van I had during high school, no less) with a couple of friends, my sister, and, for "Bob" knows what reason, Aya Hirano (seiyuu for Haruhi and Konata, among others). We were listening to a song from Lucky Star (I think it was Dondake Fanfare), and I wondered whether it was weird to be riding in a car while your own music played on the stereo. I was about to ask her, then I woke up.

That's the entire dream, or at least the part I can remember.
