Cell doesn't know about Superman's weakness to a red sun and Superman doesn't know about Cell's vital nucleus. Between the two, however, Cell's vulnerability is easier to hit through trial and error than Superman's.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Dr. Gero was a Mad Scientist. Cell has knowledge of things Gero shouldn't have known about in Abridged. Cell is also green. Ergo, Cell contains Kryptonite, just in case.
I mean, we know he got a zenkai, but I don't think it's ever really explained why the zenkai automatically granted him his Perfect Form. Super Semi-Perfect Cell would have made more sense.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Not necessarily, though it would have to be something like "Saitama shows up to fight. Cell attacks, but it does nothing. Saitama has that confused/WTF expression he always has. Cell tries to do more, but it still does nothing. Saitama gets bored and gets ready to kill him in one punch. But, oh wait, today is a special sale at the supermarket! He runs off leaving Cell flabbergasted."

If we assume he died because of loss of mass, then both 17 and 18 probably should've been dead when Goku blew up off Cell's upper half, or arguably even earlier when Vegeta Final Flash-ed him. 18 may have been whole when regurgitated, but she and 17 can't have been whole the entire time she was in Cell.
We don't actually know when 17 died. The general assumption is that he died when Gohan killed Cell, but that entire perspective on the story is unexplored in either the manga or the anime.
Speaking of which, I wonder if Abridged is going to have a gag around how badly the dub screwed up that situation at first.

The general assumption I've always seen is during his self-destruction. They even elaborate that he no longer requires the androids power to stay in his perfect form and his now even stronger than planned. But, I suppose you're right. Not that it really matters. The explanation for why Cell returned to his perfect form stands whether 17 is still "alive" or not.
Doesn't stop at just that point. Android 17 basically f*cks off the face of the Earth never to be heard from again. We know he was revived by the wish to restore Cell's victims and I think he appears in the anime version of the "Everyone lend your power to defeat Majin Buu" scene, but that's it. Everything we know about him - becoming a park ranger, starting a family - came from interviews and shit.
I mean, GT brings him back but only in the most mean-spirited way imaginable.

He's got heat beams, and even if Cell could Instant Transmission, wouldn't help him if he doesn't know about Supermans weakness to red suns.
