Kuwabara's Dimension Sword is able to cut dimensions. Which means he can do stuff like cut his way out of a pocket dimension or cleave the barrier between dimensions. It does not, however, indicate anything about its actual power; it's a utility tool.
The mistake that's being made here is assuming that its ability to cut dimensions is an extension of its power. That it is powerful enough to cut dimensions. This is not the case. Cutting dimensions is its special property. It cuts dimensions. It does nothing else.
Compare it to, say, an ogre-slaying blade that gets a +2 against ogres. You could try to argue that it should also have +2 against goblins 'cause goblins are weaker than ogres, but you would be wrong. That +2 is specifically for ogres. The same is true of the Dimension Sword. All it does is cut dimensions.
If a dimension needs cutting, Kuwabara can do it. This was especially relevant for the arc it was introduced in, which featured special dimension-weirdness extensively. But it has no application against, say, a Kamehameha because a Kamehameha is not a dimension.
Ultimately, the Dimension Sword has very little practical usage in crossover battles as a result of its highly specialized utility. It was only really useful for the duration of a single arc in which the conflict and metaphysics were specifically attuned to make it useful, but even then, it did nothing to change the fact that Kuwabara is still the least formidable protagonist and, in fact, it is immediately after the arc in which it's introduced that he drops out of the fighting for good.
EDIT: I'll also add that Kuwabara is basically the Yamcha of YYH in terms of how many fans go out of their way to come up with reasons why he's way more awesome than folks give him credit for. Unlike Yamcha, however, YYH actually does give Kuwabara some pretty cool moments. He pulls his weight.
But he's still the least formidable protagonist and the Dimension Sword does nothing to change that. All it accomplished was extending his relevancy for one last arc by giving him arbitrary plot-importance.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. This is true. Kuwabara is what Yamcha would have been if Toriyama had actually bothered to give him any victories.
That's likely why he doesn't get relentlessly mocked the way the former does. I myself really like Kuwabara. He's a cool dude.
One Strip! One Strip! The only way to argue anything with Yamcha is mean-spiritedly, but your point stands.
Anyway, since I'm not stupid enough to try and drag this conversation out, I'll just end it here.
...So, I'm looking forward to Bojack. What about you guys?
One Strip! One Strip! While I don't like how drawn out it was, Kuwabara and Toguro pranking Yusuke into thinking his best friend was dead in order to manufacture an angsty power-up is one of my favorite shonen concepts.
You mean, in how it makes the one doing the beating look really strong or something like that?
One Strip! One Strip!I was actually trying to add to Rob's point about why Kuwabara isn't as mocked.
And since Kuwabara was already being brought up it seemed like a good opportunity to show a scene of Kuwabara being cool. It amused me to post both death scenes side-by-side because they were almost the same length.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!![]()
Oh. That kind of beating something to death.
My bad.
Point taken. I did say I was dropping it in my defence.
Once again, Kuwabara is a pretty cool dude.
One Strip! One Strip!I wish they'd go back to Yu Yu for a bit.
Or, have other Abridged characters come in to the Cell games. Someone already said Abridged Alucard. Abridged Yuno maybe, make this into a real community project, have abridgers from all sorts come in and do some voice work.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Alucard has no way of hurting Cell. While Cell probably couldn't kill him without atomizing the planet (which also wouldn't work if this is after Hellsing ends), Alucard couldn't even so much as tickle Cell.
Forget regenerating blood, Alucard's teeth couldn't even puncture Cell's flesh.

So they'd be deadlocked then? Alucard can't hurt Cell, but Cell can't actually kill Alucard.
I'd almost like to see that, just to see how frustrated they'd be about the whole thing.
One Strip! One Strip!Okay, but, does drinking souls increase Alucard's ki?
Because like. How many Turks and Wallachians did he eat? Because if we calculate it to about a power level of 5 each (maybe more, given they were all soldiers, most of them armed with swords and other hand to hand weapons, and probably trained to an extent in the discipline and basic balance stuff that goes with low-level martial arts) and. Like.
I dunno, how does the math work out there?
He's also absorbed a lot of other shit as well, and the souls in his body number in the potential tens of millions; granted, it's only his and one catboy's soul at the end of Alucard, but said catboy also gives Alucard limited omnipresence, which means he can be anywhere and everywhere at once, and just will any injuries out of existence.
Granted, considering said powers only work as long as he can recognize himself, absorbing another soul will ruin that, and potential mind and soul manipulation could probably do him in as well.

Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!I mean, technically speaking, seeing as how everything exists inside of dimensional space in some way or form, Kuwabara, while he might not be able to cut you with his Spirit Sword, could cut the dimensional space you're existing in. That could either lead to the dimensional space closing on top of you and crushing you under reality, or opening up a portal that drops you in the space between dimensions, effectively acting like the Phantom Zone at that point. Granted, it does nothing to increase his speed, strength, or durability to be on par with everyone else, so you can still kill him before he hits you.
Also, if the manga's epilogue story is anything to go by, he can also use it to open up wormholes straight to the Demon World from Earth, so it's kind of like the Instant Transmission in that he could go into the Afterlife at will if he wanted to.

The fight itself only lasts for one minute. The other four minutes are the intro, the outro, and them talking. Only a few OMMs have gone on longer than a minute.
