It's college in the Abridged version...
Japan has college-like interviews for even fucking preschool.
They are like the Vegeta of education; constant, soul breaking training, and then Finland with the opposite approach outperforms them.
Anyway, Gohan spent a year kidnapped by Piccolo, but, other than that? Namek took less than two months, the androids were about 2 weeks, and Buu happened in the span of 3 days. On the other hand, he spent 4 years of pre-Z as a relatively normal child, 4 years between Namek and the androids in relative peace, and 7 years between the androids and Buu as a normal teenager. In fact, the most abnormal part of Gohan was that he was a bit sheltered.
Hell, even Goku ends up quite even: 5 years of normal marriage pre-Z, and 3 years of training at home for the androids, versus 8 years dead and a year learning to control his alien transformation in space.
And then we have the almost year of quality father-son time/training in the time chamber.

That's not "raw" training, that's training made possible by the existence of a time machine and the cure to a heart virus (after all, no cure, no one to reveal that the ROSAT exists).
I'm not addressing the "Dragon Balls" point, anyway. I don't think the characters would make that point, either. Trunks' future exists pretty much because Piccolo risks his life every time he fights and nobody tries to stop him, anyway (funnily enough, if Future!Piccolo had been the sort of role model that Chi-Chi approved of, the Dragon Balls would still be around).

Guys, I just learned that in the original Broly movie, there was some guy named Krang; who created Broly's mind control ring.
Why didn't TFS spoof him?
They didn't go with the mind control angle...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.
(2) Why not him? Maybe a lack of ideas, maybe a lack of time.
They inserted/skipped a couple of things:
- Yajirobe and Korin weren't there at all (ah doy) and we don't actually hear any conversation between King Kai and the South Kai.
- Goku and the gang actually spend the night there and Broly attacks them in his regular SSJ form.
- Gohan, Trunks, and Krillin discover the Shamosans and treat them to a meal that same night... actually I can't remember if this happened before or after Goku arrived, or why they didn't tell Vegeta sooner.
- Rather than have Paragus's speech, there's a flashback that same night where Paragus recounts how he and Broly survived.
- Krang is removed - "you could remove this character and nothing about the plot would change." The only thing that changes is that Paragus appears to be less of a dick. So I guess they figured the Shamosans were good enough and Krang would just require additional scripting.
-
The mind control is removed. Originally Broly's chestpiece was part of a hypno-collar Paragus had to use to calm him down whenever he was "triggered." Probably the decision to remove Krang is why they cut out the earlier fight scene.
-
- Goku is already inside of the spaceship that Vegeta and the others arrived in... for some reason right before Vegeta was about to leave.
- They cut the portion of the fight prior to everyone going Super Saiyan - because Rule of Drama annoys people so I'm coming to gather, and it doesn't make sense for them to not do that really.
- Vegeta's fight scene was reduced to an even shorter Curb-Stomp Battle. Which was actually hysterical.
Come to think of it I don't think the movie ever explains how Paragus gathered the soldiers for his ruse, or what happened to them or if any of them escaped the planet's destruction.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!For those of you who are only subscribed to this thread and not the main Dragonball one, (like me,) the first couple episodes of Dragonball Super have been dubbed into English.
Gohan grew up to be a scholar, just like his mom wanted. I think he even mentioned research one time. So what kind of scholar is he? Like, what is his area of expertise? What does he research?

I'm not sure what Super says, but if Dragonball Online still is anything, storywise, he eventually researches Ki as a science. Which becomes something of a Mass Empowering Event for humanity.

I have a message from another time...Not if the original finale of Z is anything to go by.
By the time Pan is born, the people of Earth are still pretty weak.
One Strip! One Strip!Well, Watagash is essentially a living breathing villainous mode/Babidi's mind control.
I shudder to think what he'd have been capable of if he'd possessed someone who had real power (like Early Buu Saga Vegeta).
Or someone like Frost.
One Strip! One Strip!

Wait, did Chi-Chi take Gohan on college interviews right before the Cell games? Isn't that bad prioritizing?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.
