I recently watched a video talking about how the Ginyu Force are kind of pointless from a narrative standpoint. That made me remember the DBZ Kai abridged version of the Freeza Saga where the team introduces themselves... only for Goku's ship to cash and kill them all.

They serves more of a purpose than that. Think about it. If the Ginyu Force didn't exist. Vegeta probably would have either killed or tried to kill Gohan and Krillin for their Dragon Ball only to almost certainly be killed by Nail. If Vegeta succeeded in killing Krillin and Gohan (or even just one of them) then Goku's Super Saiyan transformation wouldn't have happened. Also, Nail would have no reason to delay Freeza at any point so he wouldn't be almost killed by him. If he's not dying in the middle of nowhere, Piccolo doesn't run across him and thus doesn't fuse with him. If Piccolo can't fight evenly with Freeza's second form, he might not drag out the fight long enough for Goku to arrive. Since Vegeta's certainly dead, he won't be around for any of it so there goes someone else capable of dragging out the fight long enough for Goku to arrive. He also wouldn't be revived by the Dragon Balls so there goes his contributions to the rest of the franchise. Everyone probably dies to the Androids (Future Gohan might be able to warn them in Future Trunks' place but who knows).
Believe it or not, there's actually almost no excess fat in Dragon Ball's narrative. If you change one detail, you'll likely change a lot of future events.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! You could just have Gohan and Krillin make a wish with Dende while Nail holds Freeza off, when Vegeta arrives to rage at them. Have Freeza show up immediately after Vegeta and Vegeta forces himself to team up with Krillin and Gohan to fight a common threat, like what actually happened with the Ginyu Force. Bam, fat's cut out (even if said fat was extraordinarily entertaining), and Freeza can be made exactly 10 times weaker, killing the Power Creep.
I dislike how it takes the character away from "manmade science project who kills gods" to "eldritch horror who killed the old gods." Dragonball has a theme of mortal surpassing gods, from Kami to Supreme Kai, and the former works better for that if you ask me.
We never really needed a reason for why he was powerful - the Androids were several times stronger than any data Gero could've collected on Son Goku and his friends and we accepted because, well, he's a crazy mad scientist. Well so was Babidi.

The problem with this is that it's impossible. It doesn't factor in the previous sequence of events, transit times, and flight speed. Vegeta is way faster than Gohan and Krillin so they'd never make it to the other Dragon Balls even if they decided to skip going to see Guru (which would be bad since Gohan helps delay Freeza to give Goku time to get there).
While you could make it to where Goku gets there earlier and change up events to get a similar result without the power ups, I feel like what makes that entire struggle great would be lost in the process.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! This is true.
I mean, how many fics have we seen get sunk due to how you can't change certain things too much without utterly derailing the plot completely?
It's usually if you change this thing, then so and so comes along later and kills everyone.
Indeed, Dragonball is pretty thin on alternate scenarios.
One Strip! One Strip! And a shitty knockoff called "Some Limits Are Meant to Be Broken" that says before the fic even starts "THIS ISN'T LIKE BREAK THROUGH THE LIMIT, GUYS"
My various fanfics.Piccoro wouldn't have been revived in that scenario where Veggie kills Gohand and Krillin...
No wonder many what-if scenarios rely on absurd and/or unlikely possibilities.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Sounds better than Dragon Ball Multiverse's Demon King Piccolo fusing with Kami and conquering the world.
Guess it can be both, because why not?
Absurdity is neutral.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Honestly, that sounds straight up terrible and not in the So Bad, It's Good way way but in the "Why the fuck is this even a thing" way. And I'm usually one who doesn't mind these what-if scenarios, but goddamn that sounds like 13 year old fanfiction shit.
"hey. hey guize what if Piccolo becomes EVIL again and beats all of the bad guys, that'd be AWESOME RIGHT!?"

Though with super buu it is more he ate your loved ones and is now using their power then he has DNA of various people. That and he is far less limited in who he can bring into himself than cell.
