There's barely a plot, what plot there is meanders for half the movie, and the other half is filled out with Broly boringly curbstomping everyone and then a nonsensical and unsatisfying ending.

I mean, what was the plot of Fusion Reborn, or any other Dragonball film really? Really powerful guy shows up and there's an excuse for Goku and company to not kick their asses in the first 20 minutes?

It does seem like they've been separating their personal feelings about the villains for this list (e.g. "I love Hirudegarn. But he's not a good villain.").

I mean, Janemba was at least interesting, with the way he fucked up the afterlife because of reasons.

Broly punching stuff is his only thing. Janemba at least has a side-order of causing metaphysical mayhem.

[up]The Shadow Dragons did place as high as they did (as in on the list at all) for a singular reason which was concept and letting SSJ 4 Gogeta + Universal Spirit Bomb happen.

I think Broly's placement is entirely because of impact.

Plus, Fusion Reborn is fairly short. Broly is over an hour long.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?

[up][up][up][up][up]Maybe, but at least some of the other movies can be fun to watch because they have funny moments or good fight scenes. Broly has none of that, at least to me, but I'm pretty sure to a lot of other people as well.

I think we'll see Broly in the next few spots.

I would be really surprised if Broly breaks the Top 15.

I mean the Krillin Karaoke thing, Piccolo dropping Vegeta like a ragdoll, Vegeta literally being scared sh'tless, Krillin punching Goku by accident, and Roshi trying to get in on the fight were funny scenes to me.

I still think Broly gets undue criticism simply because some tangent of the fanbase hyped him up to be this invincible villain, and then the franchise rolled with it and gave him Wolverine Publicity. By itself the film isn't really that bad given the bar previous films have set. Broly is just an evil Super Saiyan that punches thing the same way Slug was just an evil Namek that grew really big the same way Cooler was just Freeza with a different skin color right down to using the same attacks the same way Janemba was just Buu if Buu didn't absorb people and had a sword.

I mean, Fusion Reborn has Hitler.

I'm Jewish and I kinda thought that was a little funny.

"But that doesn't mean we won't take the time to talk about them all in-depth this month." Kaiser says that in response to Taka's statement that Super won't technically be making the list because of how recent it is and how difficult it is to judge lasting impact for something that recent. And especially since the series is still airing.

So. Like, what are you guys expecting on that front?

Beerus will still definitely be high on the list, if not number 1, regardless.

I doubt Beerus will be number 1. He's a great character but way too affable to truly be called a great villain. Top five for sure.

How hilarious would it be if Broly wasn't on the list, and he was never mentioned as not being on the list, leaving everyone to anticipate him being on the list up until it ends and he isn't?

Number 1 is most likely going to be Frieza. This reminds a bit of when they did most iconic moments of the series and people were going they hoped it wouldn't be Goku going Super Saiyan for the first time because that would be too obvious. Obviously if it comes off as that obvious it's just a reason to give it to the spot.

Obviously this isn't exactly the same, but it has the same general feel as that D Bcember.

I know Cooler's already shown up, but. Just going by where TFS has ranked their respective films. I'd expect Broly to be lower.

They mentioned that the rankings are not just their own perosnal opinions but also taking into account the impact the character has had on the franchise. As much as they, and a lot of us, hate him, Broly is legit one of the most well known and recognizable characters in the franchise, to the point where even non-fans know who he is. The games always use his inclusion as a major selling point.

That and I remember growing up in the 90s when DBZ was still be localized. The movies weren't even dubbed yet and people were already hyping up Broly. tongue

Paragus: "Do you get it yet, Vegeta? You're not dealing with an ordinary Saiyan warrior anymore..."

Ok, I'd love it if they did that.

It's even better then my idea where TFS Vegeta makes the speech to Frieza again in the hypothetical Resurrection F TFS movie.

I wish I remember where that post is now.

I think another funny call-back would be Beerus walking up to Freeza and saying something like "Hey, jackass, I'm God and this time I brought my A-game. Do you want me to strike you where you stand?"

The legend has returned.

...The weird thing about Beerus and Frieza is that apparently they've met before, and I really want to know what the context of that meeting was. And the content.

Like. Supposedly Beerus heard about the Super Saiyan God before he went to sleep I think? From that freaky fish guy. I guess one way for Frieza to have heard of it is if Beerus mentioned it when they met.

I would imagine after Frieza conquered a few dozen/hundred/thousand planets Beerus showed up and said "So, hi. I'm a god that's capable of killing you with the flick of a finger. Kindly do whatever you want down here, but don't piss me off, okay?"

Apparently, it was old King Cold who warned Freeza about Beerus and Buu. So it would've been Cold who met with/learned about Beerus.

Cooler was always my favorite movie villain. He was Freiza, but better. Young me didn't need more reason than that.

Young me also had a Broly keychain on his bookbag, so young me might not have had the best judgement. Young me was also punched in the stomach by a kid in second grade so he could steal my Broly keychain. I told a teacher and they sent me to the office. Teachers were my least favorite villains.
