Again, this isn't about personal enjoyment or preference. The two are related but not really equivalent and there's no need to directly compare the two. I'm not even thinking the older dubs so much as current stuff, but, eh.
And I can't help but find it insulting to the people who work on stuff in official capacity, Toriyama, and really Team Four Star themselves, for different reasons.

This is touching something a bit earlier, but I do remember off-comments from Kaiser and Lani that since the Cell Saga is inherently Darker and Edgier than anything DBZ has done before it, the abridging of it would naturally be like that too. Buu Saga is more lighthearted and they said they would go full-on with the jokes.
Which mirrors what Toriyama wanted with Buu Saga after writing the Cell Saga.

See now, when I watched the original series, I definitely didn't feel like the Buu arc was Lighter and Softer than the Cell arc. It felt even Darker and Edgier. From Videl getting curbstomped, to the Human Extinction Attack, to Vegeta's sacrifice, to the comedic moments generally falling flat, to Gohan and Krillin having visibly aged and Goten and Trunks not being worthy young looking replacements...
Yea, seeing people who claim the Abridged series is better than the original is seriously aggravating, especially since the creators have nothing but respect and love for the original. Its like the embodiment of a Misaimed Fandom.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Because it's implying that TFS should be the ones doing the dub from now on. I don't mind people having preferences, but there's a difference between that and advocating what's essentially a parody series to replace an official licensed product.
I like this series because it works as a Parody, not because I find it inherently more interesting than the original.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Isn't the rest of the Kai dub already done? Anyway, I don't think it implies they should be in charge of everything DBZ. I think it's saying "don't watch the Kai dub, the show doesn't hold up as much as you'd like it to. If you watch this parody series you'll have a much better experience". That's a reasonable stance for a person to have imo.
If you're just talking about fans claiming that DBZA is Better Than Canon in general, then yeah, I can see why that would be aggravating.
But I've seen videos on Youtube (like this one
) that compare scenes from DBZA to Funimation and DBZ Kai. If nothing else, they demonstrate that TFS have earned their place among the mainstream licensed dubs, and that DBZA is more than just a simple Gag Dub.

No beer?! But if there's no beer, then there's no beef or beans!I saw a tweet where Kaiser got upset because someone said that they thought he was a better voice for Future Trunks than Eric Vale.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I don't think that's what we're talking about. Again, preferring this over the actual story is one thing, claiming this is an accurate and better retelling of the story is another thing entirely.
I think you seem to be under the impression that we're going "different opinions are bad" when that's not the case. The abridged series has all the hallmarks of what many people would consider a terrible dub, and yet there are people who hold it up as the better because they don't seem to get what works for a parody and what works for a (more or less) serious work are different things.

And I'm not even saying I haven't preferred their take on a few things. But they're not a Gag Dub, they're a parody and I've never really gotten the impression they've tried to be more than that. I think part of the issue is that because they try to be a good parody, some people think they're trying to compete with everything else.

Did they miss their chance to reference Broken Promise (Dreams)
?
The Abridged has its ups and downs. I like more than I don't like about it. I'd rank them as follows:
- Dragon Ball manga.
- Team Four Star
- Dragon Ball Kai
- Funimation Dub
The manga does a better job of coherently and concisely telling the story than any other version, but given the choice between the adaptational issues, I'd sooner take TFS's crap over Toei's.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Criticism =/= Dislike. You can criticize things and still enjoy them.
Frankly, a lot of people on the internet need to learn that, "This wasn't a good joke," or "This was a poor character choice," or "I think this thing could have been done better," are not synonymous with, "THIS PIECE OF SHIT WORK IS A PIECE OF SHIT AND ANYONE WHO ENJOYS IT IS A TURBOHITLER RACISEXIST!!!!"
More often than not, we criticize because we enjoy the thing. If we didn't like it, we wouldn't be watching each episode.

If they're claiming it works better as a dub and retelling then, yes, I can. If you don't actually care about accuracy of the story being told, then I don't understand even making the comparison.
Like I said, it's not the idea of someone enjoying the abridged more that annoys me.
