That's doesn't seem to be where the joke was headed.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Eh, I liked the episode. And Dende dickishness is justified by the fact that they did kidnap him in order to... make him a god... that Popo immediately points out is a fairly crappy job. And Dende probably doesn't have the ability to possess people and manipulate their bodies like a superhuman acrobatic wizard.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!This episode was kinda meh to me; not terrible, but not as up to par as previous ones. The Goku/Chi-chi stuff was pretty funny, mostly because of Goku's approach to it "as a challenge" and Krillin's reaction.
The recount with Cell was pretty gold tho, wish that got a bit more screentime.
Everything else was kinda "alright" tho; Dende wasn't really likable but so much as a dick and creepily obsessed with Gohan, which is uh...not really funny. Not in the same way as the likes of Popo and Vegeta. And what makes me kinda weary is how this is going to lead some creepy one-sided love triangle when Videl is introduced next arc.
The video scene wasn't really needed, but I do like the tie-in to supplementary material after the series was over. I also noticed this episode was longer than usual at 15 minutes. That length is usually reserved for season finales.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.A lot of Dende's dialogue wasn't as jerk-ish as it is now...he didn't make a lot of snarkster comments during the saga and one of his 2 jerk actions was justifiable...since it was toward Veggie.

Me and my friend's collaborative webcomic: Forged MenI think I figured out why Dende bothered me so much in this episode, specifically every single interaction with Gohan. Dende's a lot more... adult, I guess? In this episode. While Gohan still acts like, sounds like, and is, a child. So Dende is essentially a tiny grown man trying to fuck a nine year-old. It kinda goes under the radar because Dende is actually shorter than Gohan, but if he was, say, Piccolo's height, the creepiness would be more apparent.
My various fanfics.
I had a blast with this episode. I really liked the conversation between Goku and Krillin at the start. I feel like the, "You know you can say no, right?" exchange does a fair job of making up for the consent issues at the end of the previous one. That they start the episode firmly establishing Goku's consent tells me they were listening to the criticism and understood why people were upset.
Most people just go get a new job when circumstances beyond their control result in them getting laid off.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!

Oh yeah definitely a gag. The the book is meant to tumble out and hit her but the way it's animated looks really weird, like it was thrown at her.
