Oh yeah definitely a gag. The the book is meant to tumble out and hit her but the way it's animated looks really weird, like it was thrown at her.

Ah, ok.

Also, Goten is named that because Chichi wanted Goku to break his record of nine times.

I'm not sure how to feel about that.

I rewatched it earlier and I now realize that Giro's son had both a bird in a cage and a poster of a bird. I have no idea how I missed that on the first watch.

Anyway, the part where Popo revealed he turned off the time dilation and Vegeta's subsequent descending into madness in the time chamber are probably my favorite couple of minutes in any of the last dozen episodes or so.

Eh, I liked the episode. And Dende dickishness is justified by the fact that they did kidnap him in order to... make him a god... that Popo immediately points out is a fairly crappy job. And Dende probably doesn't have the ability to possess people and manipulate their bodies like a superhuman acrobatic wizard.

I think Dende is being an asshole because he's surrounded by people who he doesn't know (Goku, Popo, Trunks, and Tien), people he hates (Krillin and Vegeta) and people who bring up bad memories for him (Nail—I mean Piccolo).

The legend has returned.

This episode was kinda meh to me; not terrible, but not as up to par as previous ones. The Goku/Chi-chi stuff was pretty funny, mostly because of Goku's approach to it "as a challenge" and Krillin's reaction.

The recount with Cell was pretty gold tho, wish that got a bit more screentime.

Everything else was kinda "alright" tho; Dende wasn't really likable but so much as a dick and creepily obsessed with Gohan, which is uh...not really funny. Not in the same way as the likes of Popo and Vegeta. And what makes me kinda weary is how this is going to lead some creepy one-sided love triangle when Videl is introduced next arc.

The video scene wasn't really needed, but I do like the tie-in to supplementary material after the series was over. I also noticed this episode was longer than usual at 15 minutes. That length is usually reserved for season finales.

Dende has always been dickish to people not named Gohan, Nail, or Porunga. The main difference is that Dende now actually has some power (the last time Dende was even close to this important was the "Don't Fuck with the White Mage" gag.)

A lot of Dende's dialogue wasn't as jerk-ish as it is now...he didn't make a lot of snarkster comments during the saga and one of his 2 jerk actions was justifiable...since it was toward Veggie.

I think I figured out why Dende bothered me so much in this episode, specifically every single interaction with Gohan. Dende's a lot more... adult, I guess? In this episode. While Gohan still acts like, sounds like, and is, a child. So Dende is essentially a tiny grown man trying to fuck a nine year-old. It kinda goes under the radar because Dende is actually shorter than Gohan, but if he was, say, Piccolo's height, the creepiness would be more apparent.

No, and even if she did I don't think she was one of the characters that knew Kami was gone, so she would have assumed he'd be back anyway.

[lol] I had a blast with this episode. I really liked the conversation between Goku and Krillin at the start. I feel like the, "You know you can say no, right?" exchange does a fair job of making up for the consent issues at the end of the previous one. That they start the episode firmly establishing Goku's consent tells me they were listening to the criticism and understood why people were upset.

Gero hasn't even heard of Namek. How would his creation know anything about what happened there?

Before leaving the future, he hacked into Bulma's servers to find out where the Time Machine was and spent a few weeks reading her diary.

The original explanation Toriyama gave was such a huge Voodoo Shark anyway. As if having your entire organization and dreams crushed by one person isn't enough for someone to seek revenge.

Most people just go get a new job when circumstances beyond their control result in them getting laid off.

And eah, the start of the episode was totally "no it wasnt rape you guys, DUH". How awkward.

And it doesn't come across as understanding at all.

To be honest, I thought that was subtle enough because I had forgotten about the end of the last episode to the point where I didn't think about that until after I had watched that one.

Yeah, I'm sure that specific line was put in their because all the rape accusations/jokes, but at the same time, I'm sure they were planning on this "Goku is worn because of constant sex" bit, and that would have probably gotten consent across either way.
