We already got an explanation for that 2 episodes ago.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. It's just Dr. Gero's voice saying "Kill Son Goku" over and over in 16's head...and "The bird is the word"

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. The original tidbit we got from Toriyama was a voodoo shark that tried to fill holes he had ALREADY covered in the manga, and in doing so creating more problems (such as retconning why 16 had his personality and was so powerful).
I don't mind them referencing stuff like that, but it really doesn't enhance the story.
It's not really a matter of opinion. The material is very clear on what they intend to use the Android's blueprints for and what kind of device they're trying to make, if you missed that, it's on you.
Android 16's move doesn't need foreshadowing because both his attempt and failure are supposed to be surprises, but even without that, 18 references having a bomb in her chest when she threatens to self-destruct instead of letting Cell absorb her.
Again, changing it to a detonator doesn't add any moral dilemma for Krillin that wasn't already there: he was already thinking he'd have to destroy her after shutting her down, and even without that, shutting her off and never turning her back on again (something they'd have no reason to do) is basically the same thing as killing her, and it was already weighing on him.
Saying "It would save time and therefore is better" is meaningless when it would literally only take Krillin an extra second to destroy her. Any amount of time saved is negligible.
If I think you're working from a flawed perspective I'm going to point it out. If the best you can say is "I disagree" fine but don't act like me actually explaining my argument is attacking you or "not cool".
The comment you replied to wasn't even about you, specifically, just irritation at something I see crop up a lot and that never stops being annoying.

The manga being clear on what happened isn't relevant to thinking a different situation would work better. The connection to 16 is more consistency in situations than necessary foreshadowing. Yeah it does add more of a moral dilemma and more tension because again, it makes it so there's no possibility he could chicken out after the first step or grab her and stealth out of there. He'd probably be able to convince people the androids in this timeline hadn't done anything truly wrong. And again, it skips the issue where the clarity of how ki strength interacts with android bodies isn't elaborated in a serious way and affects the scene for some.
And my issue is not you explaining why you think something, it's portraying it as "they only think that because they don't understand what happened". That feels like disrespecting someone's opinion, not disagreeing, and I think that's not cool.

It's not consistency with the situation though. We already knew that deactivation devices existed, Gero made them himself and 17 destroyed it. It's not an either or situation here, both a deactivation control and bomb are introduced in the story, but it makes more sense to try and recreate what we already know exists than to make an entirely new device to remote activate the bombs.
How does it add tension and a dilemma when Krillin is already thinking the things you want him to be thinking about? He was already struggling very hard with the situation.
I really don't get your point about the androids, shut off the harmless and they can't defend themselves. Destroying her would be easy, I'm not sure why you think being an android somehow changes that.
Seeing as you started this by saying that Team Four Star made it a detonator on purpose (they didn't) and it makes more sense that way, I assumed you didn't really understand how things went in story.
Now that I know you apparently do, yeah, it's just a disagreement about it making things better. Not that I think it being a detonator makes things worse, because I don't. My point was and remains that deactivation switch or detonator, it really doesn't change or improve the story in any meaningful way.

"Hot asian wife" is most likely a reference to Karl Anderson, for the uninitiated. He often brings up his "hot asian wife" in promos.
"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."Also, the entire reason that the heroes get the idea for using the shut down remote is because Gero had one.
Trunks realizes that 17 and 18 were more powerful than Gero, and didn't obey him. He also knew that Gero was aware of that when he sent them against the heroes, and realized Gero had to have an emergency "off switch" for them. That's what inspires him to bring back the blueprints to Bulma.
You lose all that if the shutdown remote is changed to something that doesn't have a relation to the prior scenes.
It sure is a good thing, that every scene plays out different...so it's an actual change from the source and not end up being a contradiction of anything they did prior.
Yes, that did happen...

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.I meant that even if it wasn't intentional, the change didn't contradict anything from their writing and the reason for making a detonator ended up being different.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. So, that episode was slightly weaker than the previous ones. The Chichi/Goku joke was driven to the ground, and Teen Dende didn't sit well with me (aside from the exchange with Popo). On the other hand, Cell's interview and Vegeta's training were fantastic on all fronts. Plus, the scene with Gero's son was pretty good, even if it was unusually serious.
So, it kinda felt like the episode had two different writers. It was great half the time, pretty cringey the other half.
Book hits Chi-Chi*
Chi-Chi responds: Ugh, damn ghost!

Yes, Dende was awful in this episode.
