....
There aren't enough levels to measure the levels in jerkass that Dende has taken. He's also gotten flat out creepy, and I think Videl is gonna have to watch her back.
This doesn't mean it wasn't funny however.
The video with 16 was....well, yeah. We all knew how it was going to end, but yeah, him dying during the assault on the base is better then how it went in canon. Gero's grudge has a much better foundation now. Unless he just really believed in the (completely fake) original goal of the Red Ribbon army of conquering the world.
Mr. Satan is gonna be wonderful....unless he's the one who's being left out of the Buu saga because Cell actually kills him right off the bat, but that seems unlikely. I also liked Yamcha and Krillin being annoyed they missed a Tournament due to losing out on the (for them, very easy) prize money.
They've boosted Goku's Instant Transmission range, considering he was able to go all the way to Namek in this version, rather then needing King Kai as a sort of stop in point.
And finally, Cell Perfect Cell MR. Perfect Cell recounting the entirety of the series up to that point was a true highlight.
The Dende thing along side the Chi-Chi gags are probably the weakest parts for me, but all in all, this was good.
I guess, now it's time for Broly.

What? And no, deactivating the Androids was already an established thing, so it makes more sense (narratively anyway) to go with that, then a completely different right of just remote activating bombs in their chest they might not have even known they had at the time. Especially when just blowing them up after would only take like another second, at most, to do. Hardly an arduous next step.

It doesn't make more sense. Kuririn realizes he'd need to destroy her to be safe.
That plan is not foolproof and making too many assumptions about how Vegeta would react or how successful Kuririn would be.

Goku could have very well still stopped off at Kaio's, just without us seeing it to make the gag better. I think the fact that they even say "who even knows where New Namek is" right before Goku disappears is meant to imply Goku got the idea to visit Kaio just like he did originally.

The issue was never Goku's IT range. It was the fact that Goku couldn't find New Namek and needed Kaiou to tell him what direction it was in.
I don't see how the plan would fail. No one can sense 18 and the only reason she didn't escape Cell underwater is presumably the reason TFS stated (she didn't want to leave 16 and his inner workings weren't waterproof). If Krillin just stashed her underwater somewhere, Cell and Vegeta would never be able to find her and it's not like Vegeta has infinite patience.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!
I chalk that up to Rule of Funny concerning Goku's Instant Transmission. Instead of showing us Goku going through the process of finding New Namek, they decided to make it a Funny Background Event.
Not sure how many Pro Wrestling fans are in this thread, but Mr. Satan's promo he was giving on tv was almost verbatim a shout out to Brock Lesnar.

I... what? What kind of question is that? Might as well ask why anyone has misconceptions about anything. People don't always absorb every detail perfectly, or half remember things, or fill in gaps with what makes the most sense to them.
Anyway, it makes more sense because it makes the decision final. Krillin agonizing over the button is the final step, he can't chicken out from destroying her after he presses it. And he can't take her body and fly it away anywhere, it's destroy her or nothing. And it doesn't have to deal with how he could even destroy her because the exact mechanics of ki are not focused on to a huge degree. And it's consistent with 16's later attempted sacrifice.
Yeah you could and have come up with reasons and explanations for all the above things, but the bomb explanation is simpler, has less moving parts to deal with, which is why my mind narrows in on that possibility and why I think it's better for a show that doesn't want to deal with a bunch of minutia.
Really? I caught a Wrestling promo vibe in Satan's speech, but I didn't know he cribbed it from Brock specifically?
Do you know which Brock speech it was exactly?
Heh. I guess Cell is gonna be the Goldberg to Satan's Brock now.
The "take her away somewhere else" is not a permanent solution. It is a temporary solution that might be enough but it is honestly overthinking things.
Kuririn had the same moral dilemma with the shutdown remote. He knew destroying her was the only permanent solution. On top of that, the shut down remote already existed so replacing it with a detonator before the bombs are even brought up is so much less consistent and the only thing it does is cut off a possible plan that wasn't foolproof and didn't need to be raised.
See, I thought the whole Goku/Chi-Chi subplot was my favorite part, almost exclusively for the fact that it was Abridged!Goku saying things he would never say.
My various fanfics.I loved the Goku/Chi-Chi Running Gag subplot.
I was almost certain it was going to be some kind of biblical quote or something too.
As fun as this episode was... Cell reviewing the entirety of Dragonball... kind of seems, well, impossible.
But then they addressed it right at the end, funnily enough.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!
Does having someone's DNA really give their memories though?
Also maybe I'm misremembering but Dende was never this much of a jerk to anyone except Krillin. Snarky and sarcastic sure but he was downright unpleasant here.

This song needs more love.

Actually, it does make more sense because Krillin could have totally deactivated 18 and then hid her literally anywhere until Vegeta got bored enough to just kill Cell.
