I mean, Krillin and Vegeta never fought either.

...they're gonna edit this episode aren't they. The video's going to quietly disappear overnight and be reuploaded tomorrow morning, nobody will suspect a thing, it's a thing that happens to TFS videos from time to time. And the "aggressive sex" scene will be cut so that it ends with Chi-Chi saying she's getting her week in as the punchline.
Well I suppose the punchline was actually the sex itself but that's neither here nor there

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Ya know, the fact that Cell is unfazed by Goku's antics is probably setting up him completely losing his shit against Gohan. Which is making me really anxious on how they're going to portray the latter after SSJ 2.
Oh yea, and we're getting Broly soon aren't we.

Well they kind of did. Krillin tossing the Spirit Bomb at Vegeta was still more than anything between Vegeta and Piccolo.
Also did this episode feel really short to anyone else? Like, far more so than others?

This song needs more love.Veggie also swatted Krillin aside...before blowing them all away.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. Not to drag and awkward conversation back into the light, but I just assumed it was angry sex also since I imagine Goku clued in eventually and chi chi having her way with Goku is hard to believe.
Moving on from that I liked the moment when Gohan got his new outfit. It was very heart warming.
"Shall I use you, or make you mine... I'm not so sure what I'll do." - DorthyI feel like it would have been perfect for the joke to have continued a bit with something like
- Chi Chi: The safety word is "Goten""
- Goku: ".... but... Ooooh!"
Or
- Chi-Chi "don't forget the safety word!"
- Goku: "oh but Chi-Chi I would never forget Stea... ooh"

well plotwise they skipped the scene of Goku revealing half of his power to Korin, but it wasnt all that necessary (aside from Vegeta realizing just how strong Goku had gotten)
also the army attack scene being relegated to tv news footage, makes me wonder how much truth was behind that earlier comment about them doing something different with the dragonball plot
Neither of those scenes were plot relevant...
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.None of that was really important and the former would have kinda ruined the flow of the gags as Goku is more uncertain in this on how powerful Cell really is. Which honestly makes for a better story.
The latter probably wouldn't have been as funny as the news report of it and the banter. The banter is the best part of this abridged saga, mostly because the original was the most serious saga of the series, so more of it is good
Fantastic episode. I want to see more of that Goku/Cell dynamic.
Since everybody's addressing the Chichi scene... I'd say the only thing that made the scene feel uncomfortable for me was Masako's usual childlike voice. Any sex scene with Goku sounds awkward, regardless of context.

Cell killing the soldiers is what prompts Goku to fetch Dende.

The joke could have carried a lot better if they had Goku realizing what was going on and going "oh" and seeming into it before the cut.
Saying it gets "cleared up in the next episode" doesn't cut it because we're watching this one right now.
Also, the idea that Goku can't be raped because he's stronger than Chichi is maybe not the best one for Scott to go with. Could probably articulate that better.
...I do feel bad about their house. Bulma can afford to fix Capsule Corp. Goku and Chichi can't.

Hmm, that's minor enough to be done without...but I don't remember a time Randomness was right about something.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.Yeah, they could have responded better to this. Still, I would think the shift from day to night would make you think that Chichi didn't just straight up rape Goku right there. That and I just don't see them actually playing someone actually getting raped as comedy.
Still an unfortunate scene, and pretty fucked up that a lot of people were apparently joking about it in the comments, but those are might thoughts. Blurry enough that I see why people would go there but not enough that I immediately go there.
They really shouldn't have tried to play damage control. There is always a group that's going to be offended, if you're going to tell a joke tell the joke. When you start apologizing for it you better be sincere, look at the dickwolves incident and how quickly that spiraled out of control. At least own up to being offensive, or just placate the offended group and move on.
Or use trigger warnings and avoid the mess.
Taking it to twitter probably isn't the smartest move either. Probably could have used an Episode Breakdown for that.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!On a more humorous note, its probably another setup for a Brick Joke after Goten is born.
Like, when Goku meets Goten for the first time in the Buu saga.
- "Hey Chi-chi, is this from that night before I fought Cell when we-"
- "Not in front of the boys!!!"
And then Gohan and Krillin also recall it lol.
.....And now I just realized that both Goten and Trunks are the products of very aggressive sex by their parents...I wonder if that's going to affect their personalities in any way.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I saw it as rape too. I mean, TFS isn't exactly Ruined Forever over this, but they definitely contributed to the Double Standard: Rape, Female on Male trend, previously called "Rape is Funny When It's Female on Male" for this exact reason.
I see what they were going for but the problem is that at no point in the entire scene does Goku ever give consent. TFS seems to be expecting us to assume consent because he's strong and thus, the logic goes, he could have stopped her if he wanted too. Problem is, that is actually one of the sentiments commonly used to disregard actual real-world female-on-male rape. "Why didn't he just STOP her?" is the female-on-male equivalent of "Did you see what she was wearing?"
Consent is not in the absence of a no. It's in the presence of yes, and Goku never provides one in that entire scene. The team really screwed up on this one. They need to own it like they owned the Dodoria mistake.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.

The peek at the Goku/Cell dynamic is my favorite part of this episode, considering how drastically different it is from every other dynamic Goku has had with a main villain up to this point. Where Vegeta and Freeza are frustrated with his density and naivety, Cell embraces it wholeheartedly and parlays with him on his level, while also shooting barbs way above Goku's level, but just within his understanding.
