6:30 According to this, Chi-Chi is into BDSM, so their sex would be rough.

Also this. They aren't amused by this whole thing.

[up][up]Their poorly conveyed scene allowed that misinterpretation to take place...

So that is what happened.

All I know is that they didn't mean it to be taken as rape, and that the majority of people didn't see it as rape.

I definitely saw it as rape. It was a pretty fucked up scene.

[up][up] Important to remember that no one is actually assuming malicious intent. A lot of us discussing this just feel it was badly set up joke.

I mean, just compare it to the Vegeta/Bulma gag that it was calling back to and you can see how they fell flat building it up as just "rough sex."

[up] Yeah, it definitely could have been handled better, maybe with goku realizing what Chi Chi meant right before the scene cut. But in the end, the intention was for it to be aggressive, but consensual sex between the two.

It certainly doesn't help that Masako X's Goku voice generally sounds, if not meek than certainly far from aggressive, so while the Vegeta/Bulma scene was easy to just have angry sounding grunts since Vegeta makes angry sounds all the time, the only time Goku sounded really angry that I can recall is when he was pissed at Freeza, and that certainly wouldn't fit.

Looking at it, they had to ban the whole rape stuff because people were making really fucked up jokes about Chi-Chi raping Goku and laughing about it.

At least TFS didn't mean to set the scene up like that.

According to Kaiser's twitter, the next episode will make it clear that it was consenual. He finds this whole thing gross that people would actually think they would have Chi-Chi rape Goku.

If it's so easy to interpret a scene a certain way, intentional or otherwise, that's still a problem.

Yeah, the fact that no one said "Hang on, how easy is it for this scene to come across bad?", especially based on Masako's performance, is still their fuckup.

[up]Agreed, that's not on them but to go right out and belittle people for misinterpreting a scene is not exactly what I'd consider good PR, especially when so many people have done so.

I like how we're just throwing the blame around now :V

Mistakes were made, shit happens, its nobody's fault. Can we move on from this now, its kind of annoying.

I took the scene for what it was, a joke. It was a joke in poor taste and definitely could have been handled better, but its still a joke at the end of the day.

The entire sequence on the Lookout was great, especially the opening convo and Goku doing an impression of Vegeta.

I thought the Popo joke still worked because it was Vegeta basically Mugging the Monster. His ignorance gave it a spin to keep it fresh.

Cell and Goku's convo was also great. I love how Cell's not flustered by Goku's antics and mentions that he'll even miss him.
