I think the joke was Vegeta wanted to kill whoever took the last one.
But yeah, I'm with Moth13 on this, I think part of the gag is just that Vegeta is matter-of-factly calling it by it's weird name. Same way when Goku was singing Highway to Hell, he changed the lyrics to Highway to HFIL.

DBZA really doesn't have as many fandom jokes as people expect. When I was watching it for the first time, the only thing that really confused me was everything with the humans and Mr. Popo in Season 1. Which is pretty much what a first-time viewer of DBZ itself would be confused by.
(EDIT: Oh, and the "multi-form technique" part. God, they kept so much filler in Season 1.)
And perhaps maybe the exposition about the Saiyan backstory and Freeza wasn't the best (Basically, the way they handled the Bardock special and early Season 2), but nowadays...it does a great job of explaining everything.

The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!I honestly can't even think what is so humorous about HETAP. I mean, it is an invented word, but it is not like "coca-cola" is have an obvious meaning either.
Maybe it is because I am not a native speaker myself, but I just never thought there was anything unusual. I wasn't even aware it was supposed to be a joke.
That I obviously got. But I thought the joke was just the character interactions, not the brand name.

Thank you for actually explaining the joke.
Point proven! Not to beat a dead horse, but now I have to wonder how many 'in' jokes TFS used in this series, not many, but:
There's HETAP, Vegeta's SAD FOR YOU (less likely because the delivery and its memetic status are hard to ignore), Cell being in the basement, Cell being confused by the naming of the cities, the East City Westmen, the Battlebacks - all of these things were just in the show.
Krillin's joke about Piccolo flying to the Lookout.
"Now that I have the chance to say this - sorry about my dad killing Chiaotzu."
Cell of course, humming his Bruce Falconer theme, and I loved that.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Even I didn't realize "SAD FOR YOU" is supposed to be a fandom in-joke. I just took it as Vegeta's increasing belligerence and refusal to acknowledge the fact that he might be the underdog in this fight. It's a terrible comeback screamed at the top of his lungs as he desperately feigns superiority in a fight he's already lost. The punchline is him getting the shit kicked out of him.
Which is the punchline of Vegeta's character as a whole, really.

Yes. He will be a better person in the Buu Saga.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I can't wait to see Team Four Star take on the Great Saiyaman - or as I like to call it, the proof that the Ginyu Force scarred Gohan for life. I hope we get a whole episode dedicated to that.

The Frieza versus Freeza was a Weeaboo gag during Future Trunks's confrontation. Trunks calls him "Fries-za", sparking this exchange:
- FRIEZA: It's "Freeza".
- TRUNKS: Then why is there an I in it?
- FRIEZA: There isn't.
- TRUNKS: Huh. I'll have to fix that when I go back.

I thought the joke was abput the Japanese using english lettering to spell stuff sometimes and a weird name came out of it...or is that not very common.
