Yeah, that was pretty funny. [tup]

Like, the first twenty minutes of that movie were really good.

First 18 minutes, actually.

I counted...and now I realize the irony of it being 18 minutes.

I guess I used irony wrong in this case.

Don't get my hopes up. I still watch Tien vs. Super Buu for some good old-fashioned schadenfreude.

I never got around to splitting this wiki's irony page into the many types of irony represented.

Good lord, that was frustrating to look at. Seriously, just how often do you need to hit a brick wall before learning that spamming regular attacks is not going to work. I'm sure it's a really difficult mission, but they really went about it in the dumbest way possible for way too long.

Still, it was worth the watch for the heartfelt declarations of friendship, hysterical laughter and some very real gamer superstition.

I would have been frustrated by their gameplay if what they were saying hadn't been so great.

Okay, I'm watching it now, and not knowing the gameplay, about 10 seconds in I'm thinking "this is not supposed to be a melee battle." Time to see if I'm right.

Alright, that was actually a really fun video. I do prefer Tien vs. Super Buu, but the two aren't the same thing. That had the illusion of hope, and more outright hax. This had more deliberate impossibility.

Also, Nez' attacks look cool.

...So what you're saying is that Toei treated a female character with more dignity than Toriyama.

...Huh.

Well, that's not exactly a fair comparison. It'd be fairer to compare Bio-Broly to the Boo arc and Super to RF.

Bio-Broly basically just continues the subplot the Boo arc gave her, Super adapts the scene from RF and adds a completely unnecessary line from Kuririn telling her to make dinner.

I think the context of the Super version is slightly different, but I can't remember who explained it in the main Dragon Ball thread.

All I can tell you is that I ended up coming up with a better version of that scene using a hypothetical TFS version of it.

Was that the thing about it being about Kuririn reassuring her that he wouldn't die because he'd be home for dinner? Because I ran that by Herms, a very proficient Japanese translator, and he says there's really nothing like that.

It was something fansubbers added, but nothing more than their own interpretation on the scene.

Well then...

If Funimation changes the line, then I'll just say "good enough, now let us never mention this very poor moment again".

Wow, Masako X's voice sounded kind of deeper. Also, he said Vegeter instead of Vegeta.

Nah, the only DB movie I've ever seen is Curse of the Blood Rubies.

Which had me confused when I eventually saw the Pilaf arc.

I have a message from another time...

Shit, I need to get to watching old school Dragon Ball.

So wait, this movie is pretty much the beginning of the first tournament arc, but with Launch replaced with a princess and gratuitous vampires?
