I dunno, A Heroes Legacy was one of the best parts of GT. I'm surprised they think it's the worst.
Totally agree with #24, though. It was made to be a little What-If side story. And to sell merchandise. What did they expect?
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!I don't think they said anything about A Heroes' Legacy's quality in relation to the rest of GT.
They certainly didn't say it was worse than the rest of GT.
They just don't want to do any GT at all. And think Episode of Bardock is better than it.
...I mean, GT sorta lead to the "MOUSTACHE"
song, so.
With Episode of Bardock, I like to think it's all in Bardock's head while the Time Breakers are breaking him.
Episode of Bardock is like Towa's idea for a rejected episode of Mindfreak.

When Krillin died, Gohan wasn't angry. He was terrified. Krillin had just died and Piccolo might be dying too. People looking down the barrel of their impending death tend more towards fear than anger unless there's something to hope for.
Goku had something. He was right back in fighting spirit the moment Frieza shot Piccolo. He shouted at Krillin and Gohan to fly back to Bulma, take her to his ship, and fly home. He was primed and ready to die holding Frieza back so that the people he loved could escape Namek safely. Had his adrenaline pumping and everything.
Frieza didn't just kill Krillin. He killed him around Goku. He deliberately and cruelly sidestepped Goku's Heroic Sacrifice and murdered Krillin instead. That's what set Goku off. Not just Krillin's death, but the cruelty of it when he was already prepared to give his life protecting him.
Goku snapped, gave into blind fury, and the Super Saiyan was there to carry him through it. The Super Saiyan isn't just a power-up, it's a berserker state. It takes over when all other sense of self is lost to anger. Goku himself points this out when he tells Gohan to flee, telling him, "Beat it right now, before I lose what little bit of reason I have left!"

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.The first time Krillin died, Goku found his body and he was angry and wanted vengeance, but it wasn't the same as Goku openly telling Krillin to flee while he dies holding back Frieza and Frieza casually ignoring Goku's intentions and murdering Krillin in front of him just for the sadistic glee of making Goku watch his friends die.
It's not just the death. It's the circumstances surrounding it.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I mean more when he thought Krillin died during Frieza's second form. He went into his Unstoppable Rage mode, and I don't really get why that wasn't enough to go Super Saiyan if Bardock was able to at an almost assuredly lower power level.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. You know what, I think Bardock being the legendary Super Saiyan actually makes things more plausible. One of my pet peeves with Dragon Ball is how something that's supposed to only happen once every thousands of years is achieved by every single Saiyan character that survives past volume nineteen. If the Legendary Super Saiyan was Bardock all along then it's actually a relatively common trait among the Saiyans that just emerged very recently (and it's already been mentioned that the Saiyans have started getting stronger). Everything else about Episode of Bardock is pure stupid, though.

The Super Saiyan is not a prophecy, it's history. "Once every thousand years" is a mistranslation of "The last one was a thousand years ago."

Because just being angry isn't enough. If it was, Goku would have transformed several times during his healing in the pod and the fight with Frieza. The "He wasn't powerful enough yet" logic doesn't hold sway during the fight itself.
Think of it this way: Goku accepted death. He had nothing left to fear because he was trying to engage Frieza with the intention of being killed. When Krillin's death made it clear that Frieza would allow no survivors to escape, there was no fear compromising his anger; he was experiencing 100% pure, distilled anger.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. It's not. Really. It's not.
It's just that the last time it happened was a thousand years ago.
The "once every thousand years" thing was a mistranslation.

Really, the qualifications to become Super Saiyan are exceedingly vague. At this point, it could be revealed that Goten went Super Saiyan after one of his toys broke and I wouldn't bat an eye.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Pfft... I just can't help but laugh at Episode of Bardock. A shitty special made to sell a shitty game — Dragon Ball Z Kinect — to show off a shitty peripheral that doesn't even work properly. Everything about is just so desperate that I can't help but go BWAHAHAHAHAHA
x4: Given that it first happened when he was three or four, that's probably exactly what happened.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerGoten and Trunks have been sparring with each other for as long as they've been able to throw punches in addition to being Super Saiyans for most of their lives, which is why their power increased so immensely.
They've been Super Saiyans for most of their lives because it's easier for them, on account of their fathers having achieved the Super Saiyan state when they were conceived. Apparently that's genetic (which, in reverse, might explain how the transformation was lost to history). So yes, it is entirely possible that Goten broke a toy once, got super-pissed off, and became a Super Saiyan.

Ask Cell what the DB universe thinks about real-world genetics.
Of note, Future Trunks also achieved the Super Saiyan state very early in his life in the manga but was too weak to be of much use against the Androids - weaker than Gohan's base, in fact.
The anime special changed this detail to make it more dramatic when Gohan dies.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I think the whole point of Broly was that he was supposed to be the ACTUAL legendary Super Saiyan. Everyone else were just...pale imitations, I guess. Hence why he transforms AGAIN after going Super Saiyan, and his appearance looks quite a bit different.
It never really mentioned about timing, did it?
...god I'm talking about Broly excuse me I have to throw up now.
