@Tobias Drake

But Vegeta already knows about Power Rangers, remember? And apparently a bunch of other sentai shows...

Does Space TV get Earth shows or something?

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?

[up]Yes. All other races are too busy being Proud Warrior Race Guys or hyper-advanced enlightened scientists to give rise to any kind of entertainment industry.

We know Space Hulu does. We just don't know if it gets Space (Earth) shows.

[up]Nah, they get Wheel of Death, at least.

[down]Nope, I'm just hearing the theme song in my head. And soon on my computer. Nostalgia wave: starting!

You are now thinking about Vegeta doing situps in 300x gravity while the monitor displays Beetle Borgs.

I actually like a lot of stuff in Buu, but the way it ended left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm not saying Gohan should have killed Buu or something, I'm just saying I wish Toriyama would have changed his mind earlier, before he kept building Gohan up.

Also, Gotenks failed a bit too many times for my liking.

I mean, they included quite a few moments of the Buu Saga in their Top 25 Dragon Ball moments videos (and they lampshaded how some of those moments were kind of low on the list), so they clearly liked some parts of it.

Though Kaiser got REALLY amped up by the Goku vs. Jackie Chun fight (he was singing the theme of Dragon Ball while they were talking about the fight).

Also, Gotenks failed a bit too many times for my liking.

Apparently in Toriyama's newest interviews, he listed Gotenks vs Super Buu as one of his favorite fights he wrote because he likes gag fights.

Don't forget Buu Buu Volleyball.

Gotenks had really clever and creative attacks that made him an interesting and engaging combatant in a series where too many new attacks are just the ki equivalent of throwing More Dakka at it.

I wonder how a Dragon Ball Abridged would be.

On one hand, it's a lot sillier and I do like Dragon Ball a lot more than Z.

... on the other hand, it's a lot sillier and I like it more. Tough to parody things that are already much more humorous.

I have wanted a Dragon Ball Abridged for so long, just to see Team Four Star's take on the material.

I don't think they'll do the whole thing, but I feel like they might do a one-shot at some point.

I've always liked this view on the Buu Saga.

Just about everything in the entire Buu arc is designed to subvert the reader's expectations or to take the piss out of how deadly serious the series had become.

SSJ 3 is ridiculous looking, and despite being hyped up as the next big transformation, which had become the crux of the series' continual power escalation to the point of being an instant trump card, the form accomplishes absolutely nothing for the remainder of the series and is achieved by children who haven't been in a serious fight a day in their lives and treat the whole thing as a game.

Same thing with Gohan's mystic nonsense. You don't become a hero worthy of saving the world because you have a magic sword, or because a decrepit old man dances around you for hours to give you some sort of mystical power despite not working for it at all. It's played for laughs and ends up being completely ineffectual because it damn well should be. The whole thing's a big long treatise on how power isn't everything, and that love and a little basic human decency can do more to vanquish monsters and save the world than any superpower or magical quick-fix. It's why the series ended there, because there's nowhere else for a story about a bunch of muscle men who shoot lasers out of their hands to go, thematically. - Sciz

Which makes me wonder how DBZA is going to parody the Buu Saga when it already self- parodies itself.

Remember that Dragon Ball started as a semi-serious parody.

Oh, by the way, it was stated on last night's stream that TFS will officially have their own studio by 1 December. Lani's already signed the lease.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!

It's a great way to see the Buu Saga, even though I think it was unintentional. It's played completely straight in the story itself. The only intentional self-parody, I think, was Gotenks. Just...everything about Gotenks.

Good on TFS for all their success. I know they mentioned in the Patreon video that they want to become a full on production house and eventually make original content as well.

I think I would have liked Gotenks if I had seen the Buu saga after the rest of Dragon Ball.

The problem is that I watched the Buu saga after having seen just bits and pieces of the show.

I'd say Gotenks works on the basis that he's Toriyama's Self-Parody of his work.

Which is kind of funny, a lot of the stuff that TFS has joked about in the Freeza and Cell Fights are all stuff Gotenks vocally admits he's doing. Creating random attacks with stupid names, delaying powering up until the last second because it'll be more dramatic.

It'll be interesting to see the approach they take with him.
