Okay, I FINALLY just caught up.
Kaiser makes it very clear how much he hates the Buu Saga, so I'm kind of worried that half the 'jokes' are gonna be nothing but 'Kaiser hates this'.
You know, like the Frieeza name "gag".
Kaiser's only one of three writers and he managed to keep his bias out of the second Cooler movie. As for Freeza, that's the same as the Aeris/Aerith debate: One is a mistranslation (sorta) and the other is what the name's supposed to be.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I just realized that when Vegeta makes fun of Trunks for missing androids he actually counts Cell twice.
Which admittedly makes sense considering there's two Cells running around. Well, one Cell running around, the other incubating.
The androids Trunks missed are 19, 20, 16, 15, 14, 13 and Cell. That's only seven.
Gero: "No, he's in the base-I MEAN YES! VERY SECRET! DON'T TOUCH!"
18: "Wait a second, did you build a ginger android? Man, there's a soulless machine joke there, but that's beneath me."
Trunks: "Wait, WHAT!?"
Vegeta: "So I'm pretty sure that's three androids you missed, do I hear four?"
Then when Piccolo starts telling them about Cell is when Vegeta yells "DO I HEAR FIVE" when. Actually, no, it's still at four. Cell's the one in the basement.
Not that Vegeta would know (or care) but. Still.
I just got this.

No I think "DO I HEAR FIVE" means he expects a fifth android.
The math in the movie is still wrong, though.
My various fanfics.![]()
No, that's not what it is.
19, 20, and 16 brings the count up to three missed androids. Vegeta's "DO I HEAR FOUR?" means "is there a fourth one I haven't heard of?"
His later "DO I HEAR FIVE?!" is the same, "is there a fifth one I haven't heard of yet, now that Cell turned out to be the fourth?"

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!
X4: Yeah, I just felt the dialogue with Trunks about it was more than a little shoehorned.

"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerActually, you're missing the joke. When Vegeta said "Do I hear [number]", he's saying "Is there another one you missed?". It's the same as when you're at an action and the auctioneer says "[current price]. Do I hear [some higher price]?".
DAMMIT, TRUNKS!

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!On that note, I wonder if he'll ever hear about Android 8 as a throwaway gag at some point.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerI mean, Trunks wasn't trying to warn them about the abstract concept of androids in general but new androids that would catch them by surprise.
One Goku already met and made friends with like ten years ago wouldn't really fit that description.
I mean, the revelation that Kakarot knew something that he didn't would take the wind out of Vegeta's sails immediately.

Does ANYONE like the Buu Saga? I know a lot people like the start of it, and the final battle with Buu and the Spirit Bomb, but...I've never met anyone who's said they really like the main character hot-potato mess that is the middle of the arc.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!I love the Buu Saga.
Vegeta selling his soul to be evil (and stronger) because he was disgusted with himself was fantastic writing.
Gotenks should come with his own laugh track. Vegetto is absolutely amazing.
Gohan unlocking his full potential was a great resolution to that plot-line.
East Kaioshin is one of my favorite characters because he's a god, yet he had to watch as all of his closest friends and family, who are stronger gods, are murdered, one by one, by an ancient monster controlled by a wizard who didn't seem to have a real reason to do it aside from "Hey, wouldn't it be cool to kill all the gods?"
The Earth Spirit Bomb is still the most hype moment in the series and if you didn't raise your hands than you are a liar, because I know you did.

Well of course. Everything has to be...Perfect
