I've played more of VIII then VII, so despite having no right to throw my 2 cents in, I'll also jump on that Heresy bandwagon.

Nothing like pissing off fanboys. Greatest thrill on earth.

I haven't played any Final Fantasy game to be honest.

I don't really know where to start at this point. All I've got is a PS 4 so I can't really go too far back.

Oh really when?

I've only played X, but my potential to enjoy the games is tied into Hype Aversion, so I'd have to say that X>VIII>VII>/=Whatever game Lightning is in.

I've played all of FVII and around 75% of FVIII (I've been procrastinating fishing the last part for a couple of months).

I like both of them to be honest. I think when comparing the two both come off better than if VIII had just used the exact same combat system as VII with minor improvements.

[up][up]Shouldn't that be Lightning games > VIII > X > VII?

I've played I, IV, V, VII, VIII, X, and XII yet I've never actually beaten a Final Fantasy game.

[up][up]I thought your opinion was based on how hyped the games are though.

Well, there is the Final Fantasy X remaster for the PS 4, that's good.

If you've got a half decent PC then VII and VIII are on Steam. You can even get mods which replace the music with the orchestrated songs or the Black Mages songs or the versions of later entries. There even exists a mod for VII which replace the in-game models with higher quality versions of the battle models.

Well I wasn't going to get it so soon but I got Xenoverse on PS 3 due to a sale happening on PSN where you can get the Time Travel Edition of Xenoverse (Game + Season Pass for all the DLC) for $69.95 AUD, it's normally about $122.95 AUD so I couldn't pass up this amazing deal. It's on sale for PS 4 for an extra $13 AUD but I'm not getting a PS 4 anytime soon. So I'm ok with getting it on PS 3 and will likely be able to play it soon.

Still thinking Freeza's Clan but I've heard it's not a very beginner friendly race due to their high movement speed. Thanks again everyone.

Final Fantasy IX is best Final Fantasy. Even better than VI.

FFVII is overrated, but still enjoyable in a goofy way (if you're willing to overlook the horrid models).

There's two reasons why FFVII is so fondly remembered: First, it was the first FF in 3D, during a time when 3D was all the rage, so it left more of an impression. Second, it was on Playstation, a console marketed specifically to people that thought themselves too cool for Nintendo or Sega, meaning it was probably their first video game with an actual plot.

I mean, it's a perfectly fine game, but seriously, you don't see people going this nuts over FFVI, a game that deserved it way more.

Whee, let's all board the VII hate train. Ignore things that like a great sense of style, an interesting world, and a subversive plot, it's more popular than games we like more and must therefore suck

I've only played 1. I liked it for being stupid simple.

The plot's rather nonsensical, I'd say but that may be due more to poor translation. I mean, Square started handling the translations themselves afterwards since it was a trainwreck, right?

@Zelenal: I know, right. First, "I will make you fall down," and then the time travel and just everything to do with Garland.

Human's probably the most newbie-friendly race in Xenoverse. The fact that their racial ability also makes them one of the stronger races is a bonus.

Is Xenoverse's DLC worth it?

I have a message from another time...

I feel it was a massive bone to all the people who hate how humans were tossed under the bus in the actual series.

The only Final Fantasy game I haven't played are 11, 13, 13-2, 13-3, and 14. 11 and 14 because MMO. 13 because it wouldn't run on my old PS 3 and I threw it away after learning that. 13-2 and 13-3 because lack of interest. I happen to like all of the ones I played alot, even 2, 8, and 12.
