Totally a GT reference.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Well, obviously Vegeta mentioning moosetaches is, in itself, a reference to GT. I was looking more toward a direct Take That! in the song or video.
You wanna know what I loved about that last one? Despite all of them being bombed, they still manages to play Xenoverse without any real problems.
Also, Lirran playing Bloodborne.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! So, saw Resurrection of F. Without spoiling it for anyone who hasn't seen it, I was glad they included the Maximum the Hormone song.
Also, about Gohan and his power level. After the power-up he got from the old Supreme Kai he should be the strongest character, Super Saiyan God notwithstanding, yet he's treated as being quite weak. I had a thought. Do we know for a fact that the power-up he got was permanent? Maybe it's since worn off and he's now slightly weaker than Perfect Cell. I also remember someone here mentioning that Freeza trained in a black hole to attain his gold form, but in the movie they never mention a black hole at all, so I have to ask, where did that info come from? Also, I don't know what Whis is exactly, but it occurs to me that he could be the same race as the Supreme Kais.
I'm surprised this question wasn't posed to the main thread.
Gohan's power up being temporary would be the most nonsensical thing ever. Elder Kai simply took all of the power Gohan naturally held and made it usable to him without needing to transform. Since he had absolutely all of his power without the strain of transformation, he could hold it indefinitely. Him losing that power would be as nonsensical as someone losing access to Super Saiyan just because.
Freeza training in a black whole was likely from the manga version.
We have no idea what Whis is but there's no way in Hell that he's a Kai.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! That's probably what he's called yeah.
I wonder if Toriyama regrets making Gohan so strong, since he just gave up on him after.
Looking back, it's not so much that he changed his mind about making Goku the hero, but that he wasted so much time (and Gohan's build-up) hyping Gohan up, then just made it all for nothing.
I mean, what was the point. Did he even think of what he might do if he decided to go somewhere different earlier? Nope! So everything with Gohan was just a massive waste. It served no purpose at all. He got us invested in someone who he ultimately decided wasn't worth it.
Now he has to constantly come up with reasons why Gohan can't do anything, since he's supposed to be stronger than anyone else.
I kinda agree that the Mystic power up wearing off, makes no sense, but that's probably going to be the explanation, because otherwise, they have to ass-pull numerous reasons as to why he can't do anything.
One Strip! One Strip!![]()
Yeah, that's the downside of Writing by the Seat of Your Pants. Abrupt changes in direction can result in whiplash.
If Gohan's power up was temporary, it'd be pretty weird when he still keeps the look ten years later. 'Ultimate' changed his eyes to be fully outlined, a trademark of Super Saiyan and less innocent characters. He has those eyes in the epilogue (and not in RF).
It'd also be pretty poor to say it was a temporary form so far after it was introduced when there was never any hint that it, or any other power unlocking method, was temporary.
Yeah, nerfing is generally a poor way to address power imbalance in your show.
Shit, I need to rebalance the characters! Goku and Vegeta grew too out of control! Um... "And then it was discovered that Super Saiyan transformations abruptly turn off when you hit 45, so they'll never be able to do that again." Shew. Nailed it!

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.But it's still coming years after the fact, and it'd be one thing for Gohan's strength to slip with training but it doesn't make much sense for the actual changes to how his power worked to also depend on his training. So I can see Ultimate Gohan getting weaker over time, but not suddenly not being Ultimate Gohan after a couple of years.
Especially since Boo arc Gohan wasn't actually a great deal weaker than Cell Games Gohan, with seven years of slacking. Rusty, and no longer had his rage to fall back on, but still very strong. The Daizenshuu goes as far as to say that his loss of strength comes down entirely to his inability to get angry like he used to.
One thing I liked about History of Trunks abridged was that, while making Gohan cool, it also destroyed the idea that Future Gohan was someone to be admired, or to aspire to, or to wish for regular Gohan to be. Future Gohan is an insane, miserable, broken shell of a person.
My various fanfics. The way I see it is that, though Gohan's base might've declined in power from Ultimate Gohan, he can still use Super Saiyan to make up the difference. In Power Level terms(approximately, I never assume my numbers are actually right):
Ultimate Gohan: 75,000,000,000
R'F' Gohan: 30,000,000,000
R'F' SS 1 Gohan: 75,000,000,000

I thought the entire point of Vegeta even mentioning beards and mustaches seperately, putting emphasis on the latter, was to foreshadow/mock GT by showing he has a reverence for mustaches.
