Because I like to make you work.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Because Tobias and I think Saiga have this odd affinity for sometimes misspelled Japanese names. I think the translation of the manga that they read kept the Japanese names for damn near everything.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Actually, the VIZ manga I've got uses "Genki Dama" as well. Except it was also translated as "Spirit Ball".
God, I HOPE Gohan will be relevant. I don't want him to get another half-assed powerup, but I want him to do SOMETHING. Even if it's hanging back on Mission Control and helping on the sidelines.
And the problem with making humans (that aren't Krillin) relevant again is...I mean...are they really that popular? I know Tenshinhan has some fans, but does anyone actually like Yamcha? Or Chiaotzu?
I think people who haven't read Dragon Ball really overestimate their relevance in the series. Z didn't do anything that Dragon Ball was already alluding to.

The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby! The best thing Gohan can do to contribute would be to fly around deflecting ki blasts from populated areas, shielding civilians from explosive harm, and carrying people out of harm's way.
He's a better protector than destroyer.
I think part of the reason people feel dejected about the humans' uselessness is that they were useless when we met them. Many fans came in at Raditz, which meant we were introduced to this huge cast of cool and interesting characters and nearly all of them proceeded to accomplish nothing and die pointlessly the first time they were even given a chance to do anything cool.
The fact is that Yamcha was never relevant and thus never obsoleted, while Tien had already completed his character arc and been well on his way to useless before Raditz ever arrived. But for fans whose first impression of these characters was watching them get slaughtered by Nappa, it felt like They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character.
That's the problem with jumping into a story in the middle.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Right.
Point is, after writing several engaging stories with these characters, Toriyama got the idea to do a grandiose epic showdown bringing together nearly all of the non-Tenkaichi Earthling combatants he'd introduced versus insurmountable alien forces bent on annihilating them all.
And, unfortunately for Western audiences, that was the first goddamn story we ever saw which resulted in a lot of unfair opinions and expectations about the franchise. It also didn't help when the dub, needing to skim over the characters' backstories and origins, just presented these guys as "the Z Warriors," a badass team of superheroes who stand together to protect the Earth from anything that might threaten it.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Just caught up (though I skipped most specials). Really great. I was not expecting to like it that much. Not only it is pretty hilarious, but the story telling is actually compelling on its own right. The characters a good too, many actually just as, if not more, interesting then the original.
Anyway, you guys can go back to your discussion now. Seems interesting.
PS:About the Androids names, I am wandering, do 17 and 18 actually call themselves by their numbers? I wasn't paying attention, but I just remember they using variations of "brother" and "sister".

And what if his name was Buust?

You are talking about the Xenoverse Let's Play, right? I've just started watching this one. At first I thought you were talking about Chaozu and I got supper confused.

18 never directly adresses 17 at all after first being introduced.
17 calls her 18 quite a few times.

Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice.![]()
Yep. Dumplin is from their Xenoverse Let's Play. But regarding where Tien comes into things, you'd have to watch their Let's Play videos of Budokai 3, and note in Part 4
where things went very, very wrong. And very, very right.
I will give a look latter. But the reason I thought you were talking about Chaozu was because "dumplin" is what his name actually mean
(kinda). Different dubs gave different names for the characters, so I thought at last one of them could have gone with "Dumplin".

Why can't you just call it Spirit Bomb?
