My favorite line was "Oh, and Cell, you're going to die" just because of how out of character yet awesome it was for Abridged!Goku to say something like that completely serious.

Wow, this has been the best episode in quite a while evil grin I was in stitches at C-17's part.

Also, favourite quote of the episode: "blah blah pride blah blah prince of all blah blah super saiyan blah blah"

Cell completely failing to impersonate 17 was great as well.

In the original, he seemed to actually be fooling her for a bit, but here.....

Cell's fascination with his lips, his reaction to Tien trying to stop him, and his reaction to Goku coming out of nowhere was great.

And of course, our three eyed hero really showed what he's made of. Fuck power levels has been something most of us have been saying for a while, but that was still great.

And yet the attack did nothing to Cell aside from making him angry.

[up][up]It stopped him from achieving his goal.

The way cell says "Official Release" is so creepy.

I was expecting the final line to be "Neat! Now it's my turn!"

It delayed Cell from his achieving his goal, an action that, while cool in the moment, was ultimately pointless. We all already know how this ends.

Well that's Krillin and Vegeta's fault for not taking advantage of the opportunity.

And yikes is the TFS player terrrrible.

And delay him. Cell getting Perfect was all Vegeta's, and then Krillin's, fault.

So it was still ultimately pointless. That it wasn't Tien's fault it was pointless doesn't change that his actions had no significant, overall, effect on the situation.

However, because of that using the word "pointless" to describe it is kind of misleading, if technically accurate.

I prefer the term "a wasted opportunity," myself.

Everyone's actions were pointless except Cell's.

Wait, Gohan killed him.

Everyone's actions were pointless except Gohan's.

Wait, no. Buu ultimately kills Gohan. But then he gets revived.

Only Shenron's actions matter.

It would've meant something if the time he bought would've been the difference between, like, Perfect Cell showing up and killing everyone on the lookout or not. But it wasn't. Vegeta and Trunks was gonna leave the chamber in a few minutes anyway, they would've fought Cell, and Cell would've set up the Cell games anyways. So yeah, Tien's greatest moment was him nearly killing himself to do nothing at all.

It's only misleading if I try and pretend that it was the only possible outcome. But I didn't, I just said the circumstances as they were, which we all know, meant it had no effect.

It's misleading because to call it pointless would be to assume that, in doing so, Tien's action had no input and thus accomplished nothing. This is untrue, as Tien did indeed accomplish something very important - the action, thus, had a point that was carried out: he succeeded. It is not his actions that failed, and the benefit of his actions were tangible: the dismissal of his successes by others does not, itself, diminish the effect his actions had at the time.

From a certain point of view - that is, the view that the only option that had a point was the one that ultimately won the day - it could be considered pointless. But in general it doesn't work, because it implies that Tien's actions didn't have a point - which, of course, they did - and that they didn't accomplish anything - which, again, they also did. It's a poor word to use that requires a lot of finagling to really work - hence, "technically accurate."

I mean, the whole fight against Cell was a team effort. Tien did his part and he did it pretty well. For that he gets props. The fact that others fumbled their roles shouldn't reflect badly on him.

"A few minutes" is all the time it would take for Cell to take 17 in that situation. And then Vegeta wouldn't even have an opportunity to completely botch.

From Beerus's point of view, everyone else's actions are pointless.

He's just going to destroy everything at some point eventually anyway.

Not necessarily. He could very well die and be replaced before he gets around to destroying Earth.

From the standpoint of Toribot, everyone's decisions are whatever he writes them to be, so it's all moot anyway.

So, you know those lame-ass webcomics where there's an author avatar?

Well.

This series is actually one of those, except before the internet was widely used.
