Well, to be fair, the bonus from SSJ 2 and SSJ 3 does stack with the SSJ 1 buff, so if they were as large as them, it would make the power inflation even more absurd.
Also, what were the other series you were thinking of, if Shaman King wasn't one of them? I don't think death is that often a buff. The only thing that I could vaguely imagine it fitting is Yu Yu Hakusho.

The next one 500 and the next one after that took only an afternoon, as he did so by literally climbing a tower in Naraka, ie, Buddhist Hell).

Watch SymphogearI was thinking...
- Yu Yu Hakusho - Yusuke does it twice and there are some sort of examples
- Bleach - Not really, but it's commonly seen that way. But I guess Hollows would count.
- Naruto - Even though he doesn't REALLY die, Sasuke is at one point told he needs to die to get stronger.
Actually I think a lot of anime pull the whole "you must die to become stronger" thing without actually having them die.
Goku is then revived before his body even finishes fading, and fuses with himself to form Super Mega Goku, and transforms into Super Saiyan God Squared.
My various fanfics.Yeah, in Shaman King, they actually do die to increase the power of their souls. Though Yoh got around that in an earlier arc, where he instead walked through a hellmouth cave that stripped away his senses to the point it was as if he was dead. Had the same effect, though.
It came to mind because of Uub being powerful due to his soul, effectively.
I have a message from another time...It would actually be kinda cool if the villain was Cell from an alternate reality where Trunks and Krillin forgot to destroy Gero's lab, so he had Majin and God cells.
My various fanfics.Holy shit, Golden God Cell
predates Golden Freeza by about 7 years.
That's hilarious.

Yeah I don't know why the artist thought that was a good idea. Going for a Pharaoh look?
It's a running gag in comicbook circles, whenever people are doing "Vs. Discussions" someone will always come around and Say Batman can defeat "____" if he gets prep time.
I'm making a comparison we keep joking about how 4 months was all Frieza needs to level grind.

I mean, Goku spent like ten years going from a power of 10 to 300 something before he died the first time.
And I wouldn't call Super Saiyan 2 or 3 anything to sneeze at.
