Reason the manga sucks #147.
I've noticed a fairly common recurring sequence of events.
"X was great/funny/interesting/met a need/filled a necessary plot function we just agreed was necessary and would have improved things."
"X was filler."
I have decided there can be only one rational response to this.

That was acceptable filler, though. Filler that doesn't actually contradict anything in the manga or work in detriment to the story.
My various fanfics.....
Right. I can't claim I would have done better, but seeing them fuck around and laugh like a bunch of idiots and fail over and over is kinda annoying truthfully.
One Strip! One Strip!Filler has its place. Granted, it probably shouldn't come in the middle of an incredibly tense dramatic story arc (bad for pacing), but it works as a Breather Episode - say, maybe in between an episode that winds down from a particularly draining arc (but is still plot-relevant in itself), and the start of the next story arc. We can use such filler for character moments and just fun stuff in general - stuff the important plot bits don't always have time for.
I can see where you're coming from, but I'm amused anyway. Hopefully they get past this bit next episode, though.

Oh God! Natural light!Agreed about the filler.
Stuff that breaks canon, or just wastes time while adding nothing should be ignored, but stuff that enhances canon, works with it, or just covers angles that weren't covered in the manga shouldn't be tossed out just for being filler.
One Strip! One Strip! One of the problems with filler is there's a lot of Flanderization. You can tell a difference between how Toriyama writes characters and how Toei writes characters.
Example: Chi-Chi.
The *Legendary* Super Saiyan is motivated by a crying infant! He is a literal giant f***ing baby!"And remember! Style!" is one of my favorite random quotes from dubs, so it's all good to me too.
In the anime, so much of that arc was abuse piled upon Freeza's henchmen, it was great. I never really noticed how much of DBZ was Black Humor way back when I was first watching it.
