Actually, this brings to mind a question I never considered until now. Piccolo is treated in-universe as being the same as King Piccolo, so why was Piccolo allowed to keep his body after his death? Compare the above moment with Vegeta's, and there's some interesting parallels. In spite of that, Piccolo got to keep his body and train with King Kai with no issue, whereas Vegeta required intervention from King Enma to regain his body after his sacrifice against Buu.
The link would only have made things worse for Piccolo, as he is literally the embodiment of all of Kami's evil. From the moment of his creation, he was an absolute monster. Even as recently as his and Goku's fight against Raditz, Piccolo was set on killing Goku anyway, only teaming up because he saw that Raditz was the bigger threat.
Not entirely what I was doing for, but alright. Again, I'm really not sure what the answer would be. It is probably either something complicated involving afterlife rules that were never important enough to be established, or "because Toriyama wanted it to be that way."
I have a message from another time...Why would you assume wishing back God wouldn't revive Piccolo? The link goes both ways, and we see that reviving one revives the other.
As for Piccolo keeping his body, he was said by Goku to be less evil than Daimao even before interacting with Gohan, so Piccolo Jnr was always treated as not being as bas as Daimao.
Also in that instance it was God that gave everyone their bodies, while Vegeta would have to get his from Enma.

I never said I thought that.
I intended to suggest something else that, upon reflection , makes no sense either, since Vegeta was revived when he had no afterlife body. So even if reducing Piccolo to pure soul did the same to Kami, it wouldn't have hindered either resurrection.
I have a message from another time...This.
Keep in mind that Goku didn't just get his body without prompting. God had to vouch for him to King Enma. God probably did the same for Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, and Piccolo; I mean, he was dead, but that's not really going to bar him from speaking to King Enma, is it?
Vegeta doesn't get to keep his body because he was an evil bastard and nobody on the other side is going to put in a good word for him. Piccolo was pretty evil too, but he at least had a friend on the other side who would go to bat for the idea that he was turning around. Also, Piccolo died in a genuine Heroic Sacrifice, while Vegeta's sacrifice is undermined by the fact that Majin Buu is his own damn fault.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Smoked so much that his voice changed.
Rules of the Internet 45. Rule 45 is a lie. Check out my art if you notice. He knew that he would come back.
Plus he gave them the location of Kami's old ship, so he was not entirely un-caring.

Dende will immediately put in a loophole that Krillin can't be revived ever, even by the Namek Balls.

The moment he was referring to was #11, Vegeta's sacrificial explosion against Buu.
