#IceBearForPresidentSo, do you guys think the series was better in the first two seasons, because a common complaint I see on You Tube is people complaining about how these episodes have basically turned into just shorter versions of the real series.
That doesn't make sense to me, considering the actual characters wouldn't ever say 90% of the things the abridged characters, but I'm just wondering.
Personally, I think this part in the series is just more serious and in order for jokes to make sense they have to more closely follow the basic story line, it doesn't mean they're cutting out the funny or just shorting the actual episodes.
Well, it is You Tube...but I've seen it fairly often. I was just wondering if any of you share that opinion.
Cell, like the rest of the cast, is an exaggerated version of the original character. Specifically, the fondness for fighting and new challenges that prompted him to resurrect the Tenkaichi Budokai as the Cell Games.
Most of the cast take certain traits, exaggerate them, then ground the rest in modern...I'm not really sure what the word is, but they talk and act more like people you'd meet on the street than iconic characters.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I don't mind Season 3 overall, but Episode 43 in particular was kind of boring to me. Dunno' why.
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerMy only complaint about season 3 so far is that it isn't quite abridged enough. Some episodes feel like filler. Funny filler, but nevertheless a bit of a letdown if it means having to wait a whole month longer for something plot-relevant to happen.
So that's more a problem with the release schedule than the actual writing quality, not that I expect them to go faster.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I guess you could say they seem to be introducing fewer out-of-left-field embellishments on the characters as with, say, Nappa being a Manchild, Popo being an Eldritch Abomination, or Guru being a genocidal monster.
I haven't been enjoying the season any less myself, although I've been looking forward to their spin on Cell in particular since that's where I was introduced to DBZ myself. I think that kind of major character derailment probably has to be used sparingly. I mean, people complained about Nappa and Popo a lot as it was.
I did a complete rewatch recently and I actually found the first season almost painful at points, particularly the first few episodes. It's to be expected but I feel that they hit their stride around the end of season one and then mastered it during season two. Season three has been slower, but I don't really doubt that it's leading to something good, and it's been enjoyable nonetheless.
Plus I didn't honestly think it was possible to make Vegeta more of a dick than he was in the series, but then his interactions with Trunks happened. So there's that.

I don't remember people complaining about Nappa; he's pretty beloved, especially compared to the flat, empty vessel of combat he was in the original. Nappa didn't have a personality in the original, he was just Vegeta's thug.
I have heard complaints about Popo, but more about the joke of him being more powerful than everyone having run its course now that the cast is getting more powerful.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Have to agree that season one is pretty lacklustre in comparison to 2 and 3. Too much referential humor.
I don't really understand the Popo hate, personally. It's not as if he appears in every single episode or something. The joke's still amusing to me, though it was interesting to see another side of him when high.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!I'm still expecting Super Buu killing everyone on the Lookout to be the send-off of the Popo running gag, kind of like how the Kaio-What gag got its finale with Frieza's Subversion and the Kaio-crap! punchline.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Well, no it's not copyrighted since it doesn't come from the series at all. It's a purely fan term. I'd suggest using a different term though, since it's a random Japanese word that doesn't really fit the actual power up very well.
Which is one of the possible meanings, another is also "recovery" which could be where the fan term came from (and makes more sense to me, anyway).
Kaiser confirms, Stealth Mode is a joke about Kuririn's power level.

Yeaaaah... I didn't really like that joke's concept or execution. Oh well, can't win em all over.
So what kind of father was future-Trunks' own Vegeta like? I ask because I'd just rewatched the scene where Trunks first appears, with Vegeta's scream.
