He's definitely stronger than Supreme Kai, who is explicitly less powerful than the Saiyan characters even after accidental fusion.
Supreme Kai wasn't the most powerful of the Kais of his time (you might even make the case that he was the weakest), but I don't think the others would be that much more powerful than him that they could take Beerus.

Kami/God is God not only because he chose to be one; he replaced the previous God, who was at the end of his lifespan.
Needing to purify his soul in order to become the new God is the reason why Piccolo exists in the first place.

I like it.

And, once again, Yamcha the Werewolf.

It doesn't change the situation much: Kami's backstory is still that he's an alien who came to Earth and opted to take up a godlike position - just that the previous guardian made him go through a stipulation in order to get the job. We know next to nothing the previous guy, and the next guy was Dende (who as far as we know didn't need to go through any special circumstances at all).
The previous guy didn't make him go through a stipulation, it was part of the job requirement.
It's said in the manga that Namekians are a naturally peaceful people, and the only reason God had to undergo a procedure to expel the evil from his body is because he became corrupted from growing up on Earth and experiencing the violence and hatred on Earth. Dende didn't have to go through a similar procedure because his soul didn't need purifying; while there was that one time where Namek became a warzone due to outsiders for about six days, the rest of his life was spent peacefully tending to the Namekians' idyllic paradise. There was no corruption in his soul to purge.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.I'd like to see the panel for that, legitimately out of curiosity - direct elaboration on Kami's backstory being so rare. But in any case, it still doesn't change the story much. It's either a stipulation of the job or a stipulation his predecessor gave him, and one or the other doesn't change the nature of the position much.
^^ I've read the entry, but I wanted to know what issue it was to get a bit more info. Especially as neither that page nor the page for the guardian before him go in depth about the nature of taking up the job - both simply say that his predecessor wouldn't take him unless he had no darkness in his heart.

But... he's already done that. He spent 3 days meditating in preparation for Super Saiyan Grade II, and continued that in the RoSaT.
Goku also gained Super Saiyan 3 this way (and you can see him meditating in Other World in the manga/anime).
So is "zenkai" like a copyrighted DBZ thing or is it just a word anyone can use? Because I'm writing a story where someone (an antagonist) has a similar ability to grow stronger the more they fight powerful opponents, and I was wondering if I'd catch any flak for using it.
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serial>zenkai means "last time"

Though, he hasn't done much in the way of banditing. Also, does Beerus outrank the Kais?
