Also, it's really interesting how different their approach to writing Krillin as become. Like when he sneaks up on Trunks in this episode, during the Freeza saga it would've been the perfect set-up for a "your power level is so small that I didn't even acknowledge you," gag, but instead they went with Krillin calling it "stealth mode" without any mockery.
Then again, Yamcha is around more often now.

Though, they do write Krillin differently when Yamcha's around. They flat out said the reason they made fun of Krillin so much is because Yamcha isn't around as much as he is, and when Yamcha is around he takes precedence in being the series wiping boy, and when he leaves it goes back to being Krillin.
They've even lampshaded both of those points in series.

It's his tone that strikes me as confident. Generally, if a line is supposed to be self depricating in Team Four Star's work, the character's tone will let you know (Krillin's "aww" or whining tone of voice, for instance, was everywhere in the Freeza saga). In contrast, when delivering the line Krillin is chipper and self-assured. He doesn't even hesitate (or say it too quickly).
The word affectionate may or may not be used to cover up something negative, the idea that it's not in this context seems like an assumption. That's why seeing it as a mocking joke (I heard is as less mocking and more kind of development on Krillin's part) doesn't quite jel with me - it requires reading the line with the assumption already in mind that it's a joke about a certain thing rather than the joke itself letting you know it's supposed to be humorous in that way, and Team Four Star's humor generally doesn't work that way.
I could see the exchange being a call back to those jokes in the earlier seasons, but not it being a joke of the same kind.

It's a jab at Krillin's expense but one he's accustomed to. "Ha ha, Krillin's power level is puny," has been a joke that's been made a few times throughout the series, often comparing him to Gohan, and by now he's just learned to roll with it.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. This episode had a something that bothered me in the source material as well. Cell didn't seem to know that Piccolo (or all Namekians) could regenerate or that he could as well, but that doesn't make sense.
If the spy fly followed Goku's original fight against Piccolo and Goku and Piccolo against Raditz it should have witnessed that and gave that information to Gero and Cell.
It only seem likes that ignorance is there to explain why Cell would bother giving his life story to Piccolo instead of just finishing him off before he could regenerate.
Is this a plot hole or does anyone have a workable explanation?

It's a plot hole. It's probably supposed to give Piccolo a Nice Job Breaking It, Hero! moment, but yeah, it's a plot hole.
I'm reasonably sure the spydrone wasn't there for the Raditz fight. It was there for the Vegeta and Nappa battle, which was far more publicized after Nappa blew up an entire city. There were news choppers and everything. Nappa blew up one of the news choppers a cargo robotHEY! .

I'd love it if during the Cell games, they somehow photoshop one of the Cell Jr.s as Saibaman-ing Yamcha while they're wreaking havoc, even though they didn't do that initially.
