On your second link, I always found it strange how confident Goku was throughout that fight, even though Gohan was getting his ass kicked for most of it during that part, but Piccolo says Gohan isn't like him, and then he goes all "Oh shit, maybe I didn't think this through enough" face.

On that note, Piccolo calling out Goku for being a complete and utter arse of a father is something I am completely looking forward to in Abridged.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Hey! Cooler's Return! L-l... lore! To the Dragonball mythos! Big Gete Star! Interesting!
That's one of the few Z films I have on VHS, and I loved Meta Cooler as a villain. The army of Meta Coolers... there just wasn't a villain like him. Not only could he fix himself, but he could make himself stronger, again and again. Goku and Vegeta were royally screwed, and not because Vegeta crushed the Potara earrings out of stubbornness. The resolution was stupid, I'll admit, same as Goku sapping energy from his near-dead son and comrades, but eh.
Plus Meta Cooler knew Instant Transmission, leading to this gem.
It was more interesting than Wrath of the Dragon and Dr. Wheelo, at least!

No, it's a pretty awful source material. As far as lore is concerned, the Big Gete Star was a silly Giant Space Flea from Nowhere even for this franchise, and Cooler's resurrection makes no sense. He was restored from the gibs that remained after he was blasted into the Sun? So, did the Big Gete Star actually travel into the Sun to harvest his remains, or is he just Too Cool for gravity? Because any remains would have remained in the Sun until they finished immolating.
Meta-Cooler's abilities have next to nothing to do with the actual Cooler and what he could do, his motivations are completely divorced from Cooler's characterization and motivations, and his history since the previous film is utterly nonsensical. Despite being called Cooler Returns, nothing about Meta-Cooler has any real connection to the character of Cooler. The Big Gete Star is the villain of the film, and Meta-Cooler is a cheap attempt to give a fairly shallow plot a little bit more recognizability by half-assedly stapling a popular villain into it.
The confusing plot resolution isn't the only thing awful about Meta-Cooler; nothing about it makes any sense whatsoever.

Given how said form burned away leaving his fourth underneath... I don't think it is.
... *groan*
Anyway, now that Krillin's started playing Dreadout on top of all the other horror games he's played, don't you think it's time Krillin Plays gets its own trope page instead of being an offshoot of Two Saiyans Play?

I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialPart of me likes to think that Cooler's "fifth form" is less a natural transformation and more an artificial form he gained via technology or something (Especially with the face mask and raised shoulder things). Not to mention it contradict's Frieza's transformations.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Which would imply that all the speculation regarding King Cold being in Second Form is true, if Frieza's transformations are racial and not just a cool thing Frieza can do.
But Cooler and his fifth transformation aren't canon, so it implies that is true about King Cold only in a continuity where King Cold never actually makes an appearance, while the continuity that he does show up in what appears to be Second Form doesn't have Cooler to imply anything of the sort, so why do I taste metal?

Also, if this has all been build-up for Goku to go "Holy shit, I fucked up" during the Cell fight, that will be AMAZING.

Broly survived Comet Kumori destroying the planet they were fighting on. When Cooler was pressed against the sun, there was a huge explosion afterwards that could of blasted his remains far enough away, drifting through space. Frieza was a battered torso after Goku healed him, then Goku blasted him again and left him to die, and Frieza survived Namek blowing up IIRC.
You can Hand Wave the IT as a technique the Big Gete Star catalogued, and Meta-Cooler's other ability was regeneration and auto-adaptation, which were boss. His history was that he survived by the skin of his teeth and got lucky that the star was passing through. I concede the rest.
But Hirudegarn was just another unseen evil that made all of the other heroes look weak, and Wheelo was a damn moron, or rather his assistant, capturing Master Roshi and using the Dragonballs to thaw some ice.

Kami DAMMIT, Gohan!
Man... No abridging necessary...
Alright, upon closer rewatch, I can indeed place the theme of the Regis Mark V.
