The bomb has a force of 657 quadrillion Megatons of TNT. That'll blow up the earth 12 times over.

Bulma said 16's bomb would blow up the earth. Seems pretty clear cut.
I still don't see why its not a possibility that Gero would like to continue living after 16 blew up Goku and the earth.

I always figured that there was a lot about Cell that was really awesome but which neither he nor Gero really planned on happening. It just... kind of turned out that way.
- "But... if it wasn't intentional, isn't it kind of like a design flaw?"
- "Silence! I'm Perfect! Perfect I say!"
As for all the oddness with the androids, the not-very-well-explained Timey Wimey weirdness of the original always was kind off... iffy. Cell and Trunks somehow change a lot of stuff that they should've had no real way of effecting. I like the way they made a joke of some of it here.

The nonsensical part of the Android Saga can be written off as Executive Meddling getting in the way and Akira Toriyama having to change heaps (Like adding Android 17 and 18 and Cell) and having to do as much as he can to try and make the storyline make sense.
Honestly, I think at least part of that Executive Meddling was for the better. I'd have been…underwhelmed, to say the least, if 19 and Dr. Gero turned out to be the androids terrorizing Trunks' world. There's a reason why Protection from Editors isn't necessarily a good thing.

You definitely have a point about how underwhelming Androids 19 and Dr. Gero as the ones who trashed Trunks' timeline as well as the Z fighters would be. Android 17 and 18 are definitely alot more threatening, even with how lazy they are and how they have no drive.
But stuff like the differences between the main timeline and Trunks' involving the Androids that don't make sense can be explained as Akira Toriyama having to change stuff at the last second because of a combination of Akira Toriyama being notoriously lazy and Executive Meddling out of universe.
It wasn't Executive Meddling. It was his former editor who pressured him to make the changes - and his former editor was reacting to them as they were printed in Jump. Which is why changes had to be so last minute.
Another great episode. This is the first time I've seen none of the original episodes, which makes watching it slightly weird.
Nobody seems to mention him, but I'm loving the turn Tien has taken these past few episodes. So far I'd pick either him or 16 as funniest character this season.
Edit: Also, in general, the episodes without fighting are the funniest. The major exception being episode 30.

Am I a good man or a bad man?No, what I'm saying is former editor, not the ones he had at the time. At the time he was publishing the Android arc, he was no more than Toriyama's friend, and that's why changes were so short notice - his former editor had no inside information so it was always too late if he wasn't happy.
Oh, but Semi-Perfect Cell not sticking around was the current editor.

Reminds me of the final volume of Dr Slump where Akira Toriyama pulls a Stephan Pastis by asking his editor Morishita if he could just continue the rest of the story of a guy proposing to a girl on his motorcycle saying one word per panel.
Start of the joke

Almost there...
There's the money shot of timing

I think it's a bad thing. I don't know how much longer it was planned to stick around (Toriyama only revealed he had to transform Cell again immediately) but it really shows how rushed it was. He transforms, dispatches 16 (quickly), is stalled by Ten, and then Vegeta shows up and beats him up before he transforms again. He only really gets to show off his new upgrade for a few panels against 16, and then the worf conga begins. Just seems like his first transformation should be a bigger deal than that, and having his second form stick around longer would also solve the problem of Perfect Cell continuing to rely on I Am Not Left-Handed to show off more power after reaching his Perfect form.
Haven't seen that before, that's gold.

...Wait a second, I think there was a thing where the androids don't age, and Krillin had/will have a kid with the present timeline's version of 18. When Trunks was a lot younger then he was/will be/would have been in that future timeline.
Are they teenagers? If so that's kinda weird. I mean, I guess Krillin lives with Master Roshi so I can't honestly expect any better, but.
Speaking of aging and Roshi, wasn't there a thing about Master Roshi had a pet immortal phoenix and drank an immortality elixir? I just can't help but imagine that he's still around by Dragon Ball Online.
This. It wasn't Executive Meddling; basically the entire Android/Cell Saga is driven on making big changes to please one unpleasable fan who happened to be a close, personal friend of the author, but just didn't like anything the story was doing.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub. They just found somebody to replace Masako for Roshi, that's all. XP

Was it an Earth shattering bomb? I thought it was a localized megaton explosion.
