I'm extra glad that they kept Cell's introduction (and hopefully Imperfect Cell himself) as ominous as he was in the original. Man, I can't wait.
Still loving 17 and 18's personalities. And on a minor note I'm also glad they didn't go with the more obvious joke with 18 and Krillin, and had 18 actually be into him.
Heh, for a second I thought Popo was actually afraid of Piccolo for some reason. Silly me. Still, it was nice to see him used differently - the usual Popo gag got old a real long time ago.
Also... yeah - we're running through this at a less quick pace than usual, but that's because most of the recent stuff is important and/or fights worth taking some time on, which all happened very soon after one another in the original. A lot of what happens just after Cell first shows up is basically looking for Cell, waiting for Goku to wake up and trying to avoid the androids - all stuff that is less specifically important, so it will probably abridge quicker. The next episode will probably be the Ginger Town massacre, but then we'll probably flash through everything until the Piccolo/17/Cell/16 quagmire. Unless I'm forgetting something.
Granted, the characters reacting to Cell's rampages were some of my favorite moments in the series (DBZ does not usually do suspense like that, and I caught on to that even as a kid - it's one of the reasons why Cell is my favorite villain), but as long as they keep the scene where Krillin saves those two kids from Cell I'm pretty much cool.
As a last bit, who was that reading the card this time? Was that Korin?

The Toriyama
and dinosaur
lines explained. It's part of the lyrics to CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA.
The dinosaur joke seems to have been too complex for... everyone.
The Toriyama joke wasn't too bad. Tori = bird (think Toki Tori), and Yama = mountain (think Fujiyama).
I still find it funny that for no reason, Piccolo used the Clothes Beam on himself as he landed.
I hope Kami moving in won't change Piccolo's relationship with him or Nail too much.

Yeah, I think it's felt "less abridged" lately simply because the Android Saga was an absolute litany of plot points. It doesn't really have a coherent structure until Cell shows up, it's just a whole lot of stuff happening without much clear direction.
...which also makes it a really good source of comedy, as we are seeing. They arguably slowed down for the stuff with Dr. Gero, and frankly, they got some amazing material out of one of the most forgettable sections of DBZ.
OH FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, WANDER, THROW A FUCKING PUNCH!

Long live Cinematech. FC:0259-0435-4987The android arc is awful and boring, except until Imperfect Cell arrives (then goes back to being crap when he starts transforming), them making it bearable at all is pretty impressive. So... in abridged, they're only working with their equivalent of one or two episodes of actual good story material for this whole arc. At least Perfect Cell will make for some good comedy on part of being such an ineffectual moron.
Favorite line:
"He raises a good point. However, I argue that we kill Son Goku anyway. On the grounds that I want to."

I don't think I could pick a favorite like. I did like that 18, generally considered one of the most attractive characters in the series, commenting on how conventional measures of attractiveness are bullshit.
I was kinda concerned about how they'd do 16, but he's really quite fun.

Yep.
On another note, people are complaining about how these past few episodes could be from the real show, ignoring how for the most part that's still false, I always found that apart of this shows appeal that unlike other abridged series, they were funny and entertaining without completely changing the story-line. It's apart of the reason I like this so much as compared to most other abridged series.
And on yet another note, I actually found the introduction of Cell my favorite part of the Saga. All the mystery, all the suspense, the fact that he was the first villain who wanted power and to destroy the Earth just for the pleasure of having power and destroying the Earth.

I'm aware. That has absolutely nothing to do with my point, which is that they didn't use his jerkass/all powerful tendencies at all. I know it's been alluded to previously, I'm not saying they changed his characterisation or anything, but they did handle him differently here, and I'm aware of the in-universe reason for that. I'm just glad they actually did that.

44 minutes in 10 is pretty good.
Funny, just remembered how Goku powered up for an entire episode when he went Super Saiyan 3 for the first time. The episode was mostly just other characters reacting to it, and Trunks trying to find the thingy.
...That's the sort of thing I'm actually hoping they leave in to make a joke about. This is a parody of the anime in particular after all.
EDIT: Megami33 and Bulma aren't in the cast list for this one.
But apparently Shudo Ranmaru is voicing both Android 18 and "Panti" which I'm guessing is what they're naming Bulma's mom.
...The Briefs family and their underwear name puns. "Briefs" "Bloomers" "Tights" "Trunks" "Bra". Goddammit.
