Man, am I just really desensitized or not paying attention, because those jokes didn't bother me in the slightest until I read your comments.
I got the implication when Piccolo told Gohan that he was a good kid, but that just had me laughing.
It's an interesting formula they seem to be trying out - make dark jokes with the intent of following them up with the characters reacting to the darkness in humane ways. They might be trying (possibly failing) to split the difference between dark humor and light humor, but I at least appreciate it.
I was pretty shocked about the "Bastard-line". I guess that "bastard" is less insulting in English than in German, but I still did not expect Vegeta to act like this (wasn't his canon-self basically indifferent to the revelation of Trunks being his son?).
Then again, turning SSJ might have increased his arrogance and now I am totally looking forward to watch him getting his ass kicked by C18.

Oh no, being called a bastard is really insulting in English. especially from father to son, and even more if it's true. Honestly, Trunks would've had grounding to go Super Saiyan right there and beat the crap out of Vegeta, but he showed remarkable restraint.
Man oh man am I looking forward to seeing 18 kick ass. Especially kicking Vegeta's ass.

I'm not at all surprised by how Vegeta is treating Trunks, they take everything from the actual show Up To Eleven, and there was only one way to go for that.
Also, I loved the double meaning in the bastard line. I may be mean-spirited, but I love humor like that, it's part of the reason I prefer current Family Guy to past Family Guy.
Both Little Kuriboh and Megumi33 have done that joke in their own abridges, so I'm kinda of glad they did something else.

It's not especially offensive, it's definitely not out-of-character, and it's not uncalled for by the writing staff either. It IS a very harsh and painful thing to say to his own estranged son. That was completely cruel, hostile, and uncalled for from Vegeta.
Anyone who is surprised about Vegeta being cruel, hostile, and saying things that are completely uncalled for just to get a small thrill out of the pain he's causing to another living thing has not been paying enough attention to his character since...well, the moment we met him, really.
Pre-Development Vegeta is a terrible father and...well, just an awful person in general.
