I'm a bit confused by Nappa's power level being only 4,000 too. Piccolo's at 3,500; he should be able to have a pretty close match with Nappa alone, but Nappa overwhelms him, Krillin, and Gohan simultaneously. Going by that power chart, Krillin and Piccolo together should be able to defeat Nappa, even without Gohan.
Does battle power incorporate skill and experience into it, or is it just a static "this is how physically strong you are" reading? Because that could make the difference when Nappa's been fighting in warzones for his entire life, while Krillin has more training than real-world combat experience and neither Piccolo nor Gohan were alive ten years ago. I recall when Nappa deflected the beam ![]()
mentioned, he had to rub the ache out of his hand; body language suggested that the deflection still hurt him.
EDIT: Also Krillin had to have burned a f*ckton of power on that blast that fragged three Saibamen simultaneously, so he's not bringing his A-Game either.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.He doesn't spar with them. They wake up on the Lookout for the first time, panic, and try to escape. They both transform into Super Saiyans and jump him because he's the first person they see, and he parries attacks from both of them simultaneously.
I'm reasonably certain the anime added this scene, however. I think Saiga's mentioned that before. However, as Abridged is based on the anime - and, specifically, the English dub of the anime with all its lovely foibles - Abridged Popo is an eldritch behemoth capable of taking on two Super Saiyans simultaneously.

My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Apologies to the lovely Laura Bailey, but I have always disliked the voices of Kid Trunks and Goten. Also, I never really liked the noisiness of eating in this series or the repetitive grunting.
That scene... man, that was everything I hated about Trunks and Goten diluting Super Saiyan in one package.
So then Popo's screwed when Gohan becomes a SSJ 2.
I wonder how they'll play it off when Majin Buu shows up.

Popo's 1039 probably because he sparred with the humans before the Saiyan arc, as part of their training. It fits alongside the humans after their training.
Nappa's 4000 makes the most sense to me. In that fight, he gets injured and tossed around by the humans and Piccolo, and Raditz at 1500 was able to block Goku's 924 Kamehameha without injury. The difference is about the same, with their being a slightly smaller difference between Nappa and Gohan's 2800 Masenko - and Nappa is slightly hurt by it.
He also freaks out over the idea of Goku having a battle power of 5000 and gets the crap kicked out of him at first, it's only when he's calm that he manages to start dodging Goku's hits, but then his "ultimate attack" is swatting away by a casual Kamehameha. Oh, and another of his ki blasts is just straight up deflected by Goku yelling at it.
The only weird thing to me is how close Piccolo and Nappa's battle powers are, but Nappa didn't really show himself to be far ahead of Piccolo in the manga. All we see of those two fighting directly is Piccolo knocking Nappa away with a punch to the jaw, Nappa knocking Piccolo out temporarily by elbowing him in the skull, Piccolo blasting him in the back leaving a burn and hurting Nappa, and then Piccolo dying when he jumps in the way of Nappa's attack. So I can see how they wouldn't be very far apart.
I like the idea of Goten being the combo breaker for Popo. Think he'll be a Tyke-Bomb?

I'm not a manga-purist either, but I have debated the canon enough in these threads to get a rough idea of what's from the manga and what isn't.
Horror fact: if you go into the bathroom, turn out the lights, and vocally mistake three filler scenes for canon, Saiga comes out of your mirror and kills you.

Why is Mr Popo so strong.
You look happy, I can change that if you want.
