But if the Makyo star is Garlic's home planet....and Gohan blew it up...
I mean, unless Garlic is the Last of His Kind
My various fanfics. My memories of that are foggy, I admit. I remember a magic water that turned everyone into hateful berserkers, Kami arguing with previous holders of his position to let him get to the Actually-Sacred-No-Really-This-Time Water, and Garlic Jr. compounding his Dead Zone-opening idiocy.
I have a message from another time...The Makyo star was a thing, apparently Garlic's home planet, that amplified his power, since he should, by rights, just be an enormous punching bag, even for Krillin.
At least, that's what I remember.
My various fanfics. There's also the little fact that regardless of whether there was any other of his race there, Garlic jr. was currently mind controlling and causing the active suffering of the entire earth and the only way to stop him was to destroy the star. So yeah I don't really mind giving Gohan a mulligan on that one.
#IceBearForPresidentOh, I never had a problem with it.
Just sayin'.
Son Gohan ain't nothin to fuck with.
My various fanfics.Though the Yamcha jokes are funny, I find it kind of strange how a lot of that seems to turned in to real hate for Yamcha. Because when you get down to it, the only Human who was ever actually consistently useful was Krillin, Tien and Chiaotzu after they became good, basically existed to make sacrifices that turned out to be for nothing. And that whole Saibaman thing makes no sense because he actually WON that fight, everyone (except Vegeta) thought it was dead, and it took him by surprise. It could have happened to any of them. I can understand not liking his personality, but I don't get pretending as if Tien and Chiaotzu actually brought anything of worth either.
Edit: Though I do get not liking his personality.

That's my point, a lot of the scorn at Yamcha seems to be he was useless and weaker than everyone else (he wasn't even the weakest) as if they weren't eventually useless (or in the case of Tien and Chiaotzu, pretending they ever actually did anything helpful [except Tien once with Cell] to begin with).
I'm going to guess that it's because he was the first to die, the Saibamen were way below their level at the time (which I guess is completely unrelated to suicide attempts, otherwise... why ever attempt them to begin with?), and then proceeded to lose whatever conflict he was in from then on, even giving up on fighting altogether. Tien, meanwhile, was at least able to hold back Imperfect Cell, and Krillin... is apparently the strongest human anyway.
I think Yamcha gets it even worse because he looks so bland. He's basically Goku with a different hairstyle, looks- and dress-wise. Tenshinhan and Chiaotzu at least look interesting. When I was watching the show as a kid, I remembered Yamcha as "The one who looks like Goku but isn't Goku."

That can basically be the tagline of the Cell Games.
