The Spirit Bomb is the most ineffective attack ever. It only ever accomplishes anything once in the entire series.

EDIT: Specifically, it gets used three times. The first time, it manages to hit Vegeta so hard that once it's done, he gets right back up and resumes beating the shit out of everyone. The second time, Goku spends much more time building a bigger and more powerful Spirit Bomb, with sufficient enough power to enrage Frieza into killing Krillin.

The Vegeta spirit bomb is pretty tiny and energy-efficient, even if it accomplished nothing. The Frieza and Buu ones are the ones that are gargantuan.

But hey, Goku's use of the large Spirit Bomb against Super Android 13 is a pretty efficient way to use such a grotesquely huge sphere.

Is that the one where he absorbed it to buff his own power?

I've seen that in some of the video games but could never place where it came from.

The one used against Vegeta was not even at full power anyway

edit: and yes it was

I guess thats why the last Spirit Bomb finally succeeded, because Goku asked for the lifeforce this time

Yeah, the Android 13 one is the one where he absorbed it and put all its power into a punch.

That's what makes the special beam cannon so special.

Doesn't the Makkankosappou only get used like twice in the series? First in its memetic scene against Raditz and then only once thereafter when training Gohan before the Saiyan arc?

I think I saw it used a few more times in random fights. Just without the long charge time first.

Didn't Buu use it? Or maybe Cell.

Buu uses it in filler.

yeah the Manga forgets about it entirely after Raditz

edit: wait, it does get used again once against Nappa.

The anime whores it out, but as far as the manga goes it gets replaced like any other non-Kamehameha family technique.

This is probably why Frieza loved the Death Beam so much. It's a very efficient, thin-point attack that can be used to aim for vital points with extreme ease. It's like a gun.

It's still a pretty sweet technique. Very energy efficient.

[up][up]Including Cell?

I know we're supposed to mock the anime filler, but I really liked Super Buu using the Special Beam Cannon. Kept the fact that he absorbed Piccolo as well relevant.

I forgot Cell. Actually, now that I think about it, Freeza uses it 3-5 times. Sometimes it's unclear whether he's using the Death Beam or something similar. Like the attack he killed Cargot with, it exploded instead of piercing, or the double beam he fired at Gohan.

Medigo02 Since: Apr, 2013
#4220: May 27th 2013 at 1:46:58 AM

maybe Namekians just explode more easily?

either way, if you discount the Dende/Cargot/Gohan examples, he still used it against Goku, Vegeta, Picollo and later Goku again

its also funny how thats the one technique manga Cell does use, out of all techniques he should have but never uses

I guess my memory was skewed a bit, since it's his basic beam attack in Budokai. But yeah, it's still a good example of using ki efficiently. There's no need to have an attack that bathes your opponent in ki, unless you're facing Cell or Buu.

Slender Part 5 is up.

Funny thing, the thunder in the video happened at the same time as there was thunder outside my room. The timing was weirdly perfect.

I can't believe seeing Slender Man at the end made me jump. Even Krillin's voice (his Team Four Star incarnation at that) couldn't keep me from getting scared. I have got to play this game.
