Was that Vegito candy transformation in the manga or anime padding?
Because if it's actually legit, i would have love Buu using the technique on a stronger opponent. Imagine if Buu was in TOP and he used candy beam on Jiren and he would have still kicked everyone's ass. That would give him some personality at least
Uni catWe're told that UI is a technique, but whenever Goku (and, bizarrely, only Goku) uses it, we're shown a transformation.
It's not supposed to be a transformation but gets treated as such as regards the main character because Dragon Ball creators (Toriyama, Toei, AND Toyotaro) are all used to a particular aesthetic for indicating that Goku has gone up in power.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Monster Carrot's magic touch?
Was there any doubt ever that Super Saiyan was gonna be #1?
Like, I think the only people who didn't call it are people who dont know what Dragonball is.
Ditto last year
It's not TFS being predictable, or great insight, it's that in both cases there's only one correct answer and it's "Obviously the one so memetic that it has moved beyond Dragonball and permeated pop culture"

I predicted Kamehame after Freeza was number 1, because as they said even if it seems predictable or following a trend, it was still the right answer for them.
So following that logic I concluded that Kamehame last year would be the number one, simply for how... prevalent it is. How much it influenced things.
And with that in mind I just concluded that the same would happen with Super Saiyan, as countless forms on the list owe their existence to the very first, the OG.
It is very much something that has permeated pop culture, and honestly wouldn't make sense to not be the number 1.
I mean, to be fair other than maybe a countdown on fights, most of these types of videos have an obvious number 1. It's just the journey that is more interesting and see which makes the list and which doesnt.
Like, if they make a Top 12 Dragon Ball items, there is no way the Dragon Balls aren't Number 1. Dragon Ball is fairly predictable in that regard.
Uni catBuu not participating in the Tournament of Power is a missed opportunity in general, but this... imagine if this was used as the narrative reason for Team Universe 7 not having to face the full strength of Jiren until late in the arc; he gets turned into a candy bar or whatever near the beginning and they still can't beat him but he isn't the heaviest hitter in the tournament until Buu gets knocked out and Zeno decides that means Jiren has to be changed back.
Like, yeah, I get that, but there's nothing to pat one's self on the back about predicting that.
It's barely a prediction, it's a question with an obvious answer. "Whats the best transformation in Dragonball?" Like, it's not even a matter of opinion when there's exactly one that's permeated popculture, gets referenced, copied, homages by other works.
That said, there's nothing wrong with being predictable and subversion for the sake of subversion isn't necessarily better.
At very least, their explanations for the obvious top picks justify why exactly why they're top to begin with.
Like, we ALL knew Super Saiyan is the most popular transformation in the franchise, but its nice to be reminded every now and then why that's the case.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I'm ok with this, even though I'm in the UI should be a technique camp myself.
Though honestly, our boy Toriyama should written it more as a technique than as a transformation (because that's how it comes off as), but that's how it is. The man does what he does.
And UI is a great concept no matter what you treat it as.
One Strip! One Strip!

Might as well add his comment here:
This might indeed be the case and UI being on this list may be invalidated by the rules we set. I, as the writer and the most knowledgeable about Dragon Ball of the 3 of us, acknowledge that.
From our perspective, the way the form is treated walks the line between Transformation and Technique, at least to us, and the way its introduced is remarkably similar to past transformations, though the mastery of it is closer to, say, a technique.
Ultimately, while our consensus may be wrong? We write these lists first and foremost to celebrate Dragon Ball, and we hope you accept our position on this as, if nothing else, an excuse for us to gush about things that we enjoy from a series we love! Especially since that's all this list has ever been: A way for us to talk about Dragon Ball with you guys.
Either way? Thanks for tuning so far, and we hope you enjoy(ed) the video!
