Current Digimon writers: "What's that? Make Omnimon show up on the third episode and completely destroy all tension from the series because we can't move on from Our War Game? Can do!"
I think Blue only ever won in 2 fights exactly: Goku beating Frieza before getting surprise attacked and Gogeta absolutely destroying Broly.
The latter is the only time delivered a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown and thats stretching it considering it's a fusion

The directors did go on record saying that the new series would be more focused on Action and spectacle than before. To its credit, the animation is great...every couple of episodes. But yea, its definitely not built on the character writing from the original at all.
YMMV on how well that is.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I know the original Digimon series has such low production values even the Animation Bump for important moments look like shit, but that's just throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
I sort of want to make a top 5 list of first time SS1 reveals. Let's try
1. Goku (the original)
2. Future Trunks (the shock of there being another Super Saiyan)
3. Cabba (this is an interesting way of showing Vegeta's character development)
4. Vegeta (the Prince of all Saiyans is back!)
5. The kid Saiyans (probably this should be an honorable mention, but it gives a sense for the power creep during the time skip)
I'm probably missing a few people (for example, I don't have Gohan).

It was a conscious decision on their part though. But yea, its basically basically what Toei have been doing with Super lmao; a bunch of flashy moments but with no real buildup surrounding them, so they all feel flaccid.
But hey, Super has its fans despite that, so I'm positive this new Digimon Adventure will appeal to some people. But yea, the original is just too ingrained in my consciousness to accept the new series.
The animation is better, but that's pretty much all I'll give it.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. There's still a lot to love in Super, between the waffy episodes and a ton of interesting new characters.
And the "flash, no substance" argument is overblown: for every meaningless Call-Back (a lot centered around Vegeta, for some reason) we have have stuff like Goku vs Kefla, or the U6 Namekians vs Gohan and Piccolo.
And the franchise has always relied on being fun, simple and charming, with a lot of spectacle.
If anything, the biggest problem with Super (besides the production) is the same that has plagued Dragon Ball animation from Day One: really poor pacing.
The new Digimon anime...honestly, there literally is nothing to it far as I've seen.

Toei Animation tends to treat most of their series poorly, but Dragon Quest Adventure of Dai, Wano Arc of One Piece, and most of their Pretty cure output has been treated well as of late.
Kinda amusing, TBH.

x6 I will say that based off of build up and first appearances I could see SSJ 2 being in the top 5 of any list..... if it wasn’t for all the other stuff surrounding it like the unoriginal design, being one of the quickest turns to uselessness in the series and just being straight up forgotten by Toriyama.

They stated that Perfect Cell was the number one best villain transformation, so we can definitely be sure that protagonist transformations will populate the entire Top 3. Super Saiyans 1 and 2 are guaranteed spots. So, yeah, Ultra Instinct makes sense for the third.
