"I had a good time!"
¡PONLE QUE DIGA!:"¡HUMONGOSAURIO HASTA LA MUERTE!"Cause it’s terriblness is what lead to the resurgence of new mainline material to wash off its putrid odor.
Only sort of. Battle of Gods is considered the start of the Dragon Ball revival, but it was predated by "Yo! Son Goku and Friends Return" in 2008. That's the film that gave us Vegeta's brother Tarble.
Dragon Ball Evolution in 2009 did, however, play a key role in the revival. Specifically, it pissed off Toriyama enough to make him hop back in the saddle. Toei was already working on Battle of Gods at the time, but Toriyama basically stormed in, read their script, hated it, trashed it, and wrote his own version all to spite Evolution.
He's also apparently not a fan of the Super anime, which may have something to do with why the manga's still going but the anime abruptly stopped.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.We heard he was upset about some elements of the Super anime back when it was covering Ressurrection 'F' (probably the animation), we don't know what his thoughts are of the arcs made after that.

The TV anime stopping coincided with it turning (back) into a movie series, which itself coincided with the director changing, so I'm not sure that's it
Word in the rumor mill is that Toriyama is the reason the anime hasn't resumed yet. Allegedly they're waiting for him to give a script/guideline/whatever you call it, and he hasn't yet.
Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireMeanwhile, the manga's still going strong. Toriyama's directly involved with the Moro arc rather than just handing in notes and letting Toei and Toyotaro interpret them however.
Toriyama's complained about the quality of the Super anime in the past, and now Toei's sitting on their thumbs waiting to hear back from him while he dives full-in on the manga. I believe we call that "getting ghosted on".

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Nah but see Toriyama is just being forced to work for Toyotarou (who cancelled the anime because he is eeeeeevil and has more power than anyone at Shuiesha!!)
But more srsly, while I've heard similar rumours about Toriyama disliking the anime, I don't think it's a good idea to spread rumours that don't come from a reputable source - or even from reputable sources, because not everything they say turns out correct. Some rumours get spread far enough that they just get accepted as fact.
We'll probably never know what Toriyama meant by his complaints regarding the Super anime, or what he truly feels about the adaptation. Obviously, he has been more open about his support for the manga, and I will at least trust what he says directly.
Toriyama was already involved with the regular Super manga. The article isn't showing me anything to indicate he's more involved that he used to be.
I mean, there's this.
He's right to complain. The tv versions of Battle of Gods and Resurrection F were wack.
Again, that was a while ago, the Super anime hadn't even started its original arcs when that interview happened, and the biggest problem it had at the time was shoddy animation, which got much better later on.

I wouldn't say the animation was a bigger problem than the adaptation of the storyline was, especially since the animation was already showing improvement during the ROF adaptation.
Assuming that Toriyama was only commenting on the animation seems faulty.
No way, Resurrection F was when the animation was at its nadir.
Well, until he clarifies what he means, we'll never know, so I'd rather not assume.
It does seem he has no interest in the anime compared to the manga though. Personally I'd love to see an anime adaptation of the Moro arc when they have some real guidelines to follow (since the manga came first).
They can fill a few gaps (if there are any) and animate some of the better scenes well.
I'd like to know who's idea it was to have the anime and manga at the same time anyway?
One Strip! One Strip! How much has the manga progressed since it finished with the Tournament of Power, AKA where the anime ended?
Two arcs, Broly (which they skipped, but its events are still canon) and this arc, which is ongoing.
I guess the question is if this has gone on long enough for the anime to not catch up.
If there's going to be an anime.
One Strip! One Strip! They're one arc past the Tournament of Power (not counting Broly since that was covered in a movie and not covered in the manga, beyond a splash page going "Broly Movie Goes Here").
Short version: Tirek from My Little Pony shows up to cause shit and fights ensue.
Long version: An ancient evil with a grudge against Daikaioshin and the ability to literally devour the energy from his enemies and entire planets escapes from the ancient prison he's been held captive in and sets out to get revenge against the god-being who put him there. Goku and Vegeta are startled to realize that their immense battle powers only make him stronger, and shit gets complicated from there.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Adding to that, unlike the androids, he doesn't need to make physical contact to steal energy, so he's better at it than Gero and 19....not surprisingly.
Beyond that, Tobias described it pretty well.
He's the first enemy where Goku and Vegeta can't win by just powering up more, which is definitely nice.
One Strip! One Strip! For the what revived Dragon Ball debate, I'd like to picture that scene from Predator where the two bulky dudes say "Son of a bitch!" and shake their enormous hands, except replace them with Dragon Ball Z Abridged and Battle of Gods.
It's been 3000 years…Episode 5 was the absolute nadir, it never got as bad as that again.
No, SSB Goku vs Golden Freeza is absolutely worse than Episode 5. The anime sort of made up for it with SSB Vegeta vs Golden Freeza being straight fire, but that was a different episode.
And to think Frieza got the last life by proving he has better team composition with Goku.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Yeah I love that Super in FighterZ.
Oh yeah, someone compiled a compilation of the Couch's take on Angry Midlife Crisis!Geets and animated it:
